"Hi, friends! I'm all signed up for surgery and ready to get my flippin' stomach mostly removed but I'm totally clueless as to why we need protein..."

OK, maybe those aren't the exact words of the post, but WOW... really??? Had to step away from the VSG forum and vent. How can a person sign up for a surgery that is as life changing as this one and have NO CLUE what to expect post-op? I would chalk it up to not having online access, but she obviously does. I would say that her surgical team is remiss (and they probably are) but she's BEEN in this forum and seen the posts. How the hell do you read post after post after post in VSG and NOT understand?

OK... I'm done. Sorry to take up the space in your heads! We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming...

I think we all understand here.  That's one reason this board was created.  I used to hate reading things like " I'm 3 days post VSG and I was wondering if I could put pizza in a blender and drink it as a liquid".   Seriously... I think some people take this surgery very responsibly, and some seem to be doing it just because insurance paid for it.  I know one person who said she had it 1. Because insurance paid and 2. Because she wanted to be thin at her friends wedding.  After the wedding she has no intention of maintaining any weight loss.
I was a self pay in Mexico.  I have every intention of making the most of this opportunity.  I risked my life.  I take that very seriously!
OK, I'll get off my soapbox now

LOL, Marie!! I wasn't self-pay, but there was no freaking way anyone was gonna cut 3/4 of my stomach out and me not know what the heck I was supposed to do afterward!
It really does amaze me what some folks do. I know several who were drinking pop within the first two weeks... No, POP is not considered a clear liquid! LOL. Yeah, I think I'm just tripping because it seems so irresponsible to NOT take this seriously! You can stand on that soapbox anytime you like... I'll vote for ya!
