I have been in the maintenance mode since mid-April and have gradually added some things back into my diet. I track my food and weigh on a daily basis, and I could see where the extra calories were coming from. My weight was gradually creeping up, by about 2 lbs. I started cutting some things out, and increased my exercise a lot. I had been doing strength training 2 days/week, plus some aerobic exercise approx 3 times/week. Last week, I added 2 spinning classes, an additional TRX workout, a longer bicycle ride on the weekend, and more walking on my breaks at work. This AM, I was down a pound, so I am finding out, how many calories/day and exercise/week that I need to do, in order to maintain. I would like 110 to be my upper limit. I am only 4'11" so I do have to be careful.

Tracking in one's head doesn't always work. I suggest tracking and perhaps, upping your exercise, if you are able.

Also, splurges usually show up a few days after the indulgences. Water retention can cause the scale to go up a lb or 2 overnight.

The VSG improves insulin sensitivity, according to my surgeon. However going back to eating too many carbs (for your body) will eventually negate the initial boost in insulin sensitivity. There truly is a honeymoon period where one has the most restriction and insulin sensitivity and things are easier. Past that point the body becomes more and more adaptive.

If you are prone to obesity the body fights to get back to that. If I were in your shoes, I'd look at how many carbs/calories you are eating right now, and decrease in small increments until you are drifting back down, rather than going too strict right away and trying to lose fast. Then notice where your body likes calories/carbs to lose very slowly and try to stay right about there.
