hello everyone ,
i have  been having acid reflux for a couple of days now but i do not know why because it's the first time for me to have such a reflux . i thought something like that would not happen two years so it got me worried . i am un able to eat properly and i have read somewhere that having too much acid in your tummy can cause you to eat but i have no idea about the validity of such info
any feedback from you  would really help ..
and for the long timers are you having reflux and how are you dealing with it
what does it implicate and what i need to do or know?

thanks you guys in advance
hugs

I would see your doctor if this is a new thing. Most of us have to take an acid reducer after surgery and some have to take it indefinitely but to not have the issue and then suddenly get it seems odd.

I never had it until a few years before my surgery but then it got pretty bad and i used prescription prilosec which worked well. Found I had a hiatal hernia which was repaired during vsg surgery. That really worked out well as now I need no acid reducter. just occasional gas x. So I would get it checked out to make sure you don't have a hiatal hernia or some other thing causing this. Chances are its just something that happens to lots of us as we approach middle age (don't know your age) and an over the counter acid reducer will help.  Diane

Since it's so far out, it may have nothing to do with the surgery, too. So don't let your doctor dismiss your symptoms because you once had WLS!

Ditto the advice to see your doctor.  And don't focus on the weight loss surgery aspect of your situation when talking with the doc.  You have a perfectly normal-functioning stomach.  When going to the doctor, I use the term "partial gastrectomy" rather than vertical sleeve gastrectomy or weight loss surgery, because they understand p.g.  VSG is an unknown term to most doctors, and if I say weight loss surgery, they immediately think I've had a bypass.  If they ask me why I've had a partial gastrectomy, I will say "for weight loss."  Some don't even ask.

And I've had reflux for years and years and take Nexium for it.  It knocks it out completely.  They will be able to fix you up, so don't stress :-)

Best wishes!

I've been only able to wean down to taking my acid blocker every other day. I was hoping to get off of it completely but the acid gets bad. Every other day seems to work okay.

I am almost 3 years out and still take an acid blocker twice a day. but I drink a lot of coffee, that could be why

agree with the others, if this is new go to your doctor.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
