My mom is doing "low" carb
So I have been trying to stick to 40g carbs a day, and it is HARD. Today my mom came over and she was telling me how she decided to cut back on her carb intake and how hard it is for her to not over-do the carbs. I asked her how many carbs a day she is targeting (keeping in mind that she aims for about 1100 calories a day). She said "120 grams"! I wish I could have 120g a day!
Question: Do you count carbs from vegetables (other than starchy ones like potatoes, peas and corn)? I felt guilty for eating raw carrots yesterday.

What works for me is avoiding anything white...rice, pasta, bread primarily. No cookies, chips, etc in the house.
I do eat fruit. And raw carrots! Please don't feel guilty about that!

yep. i count all carbs, whether from fruit or veggies or low fat dairy. I don't eat any white carbs any more. But don't feel too bad about the carrot or other veggie carbs as there is fiber and somehow those carbs don't seem to be so bad as the white flour kind. I kept under 40 during weight loss phase and if you are getting plenty of protein in, it makes it easier to avoid the carbs. Diane
I count everything but my surgeon said I didn't have to count anything from leafy green veggies. I still did because substituting them out was too hard.
