does anyone thing because they lost weight you can???
Hi all. I have been eating Doritos taco ones. Not ever day just a little at a time. I tell my self wow I have lost weight i can eat this. But I think it is becoming a habit. Taco Doritos is my down fall I can leave the candy and ice cream along but the Doritos call my name.
has anyone though like me just loosing weight you can eat now?.

I started falling into that trap, but I am quickly getting out of it. Old habits die hard and they are just under the surface, calling our names. I stopped eating popcorn, because it was becoming a nightly event. I have also cut out other things that "call my name." Sometimes, it is difficult just to have a few, so I don't even bring things into the house that I tend to graze on. Chips and crackers are big no's for me.
I have been eating nuts: roasted almonds (18 of them) and shelled pistachios (1/4 cup) as a midday snack. The salted snacks were ALWAYS my downfall. I could destroy a back of cool ranch doritos in no time flat! But, the nuts are a really good substitute. I eat one small bag (portioned out as described above) a day and have for about a month. I am still losing, not as fast as I was in the beginning, but it is coming off. So, as long as I am not gaining, I am going to keep eating my nuts!
peanuts are my down fall to. i count them out now they say 38 honey roasted peanuts is 150 calories so that is how many I eat. I put the Doritos away for now. But when I am in the store it kills me. I have not gained from eating them but I know they are a no no.
I remember when i started this journey I though I would just say no lol. It is very hard at times to say no. Like with pizza or fried chicken lol but thank god when i eat greasy foods I dump so that is the only thing keeping me from eating stuff like that.
have you figured out how many calories and carbs and protein you need to maintain, calculated the impact of the Doritos on those numbers, and determined whether a modest portion once in awhile is possible while still staying within those ranges? If not, this is your first step. You may find you can eat a small amount once in awhile and stay within your perameters then you may be fine. But consider whether if you have a bag of the stuff around if you have the ability to stop at a measured amount and make that bag last two weeks. If you don't have the discipline to do that, then I would get rid of these as such foods can only lead to cravings for bigger and bigger amounts.
Check out my recipe for chili lime almonds posted a few days ago.. This recipe could be modified to use a packet of taco seasoning instead of chili powder. I am gonna try this. It might give you that taco flavor in a more healthy way that gives protein and is filling. Seems like chips and sweets are never filling and you can way overeat on them. Hope this helps. Diane

Love it. "Gateway food". I can so relate. Sorta like Pandora's Box. Open it up and trouble isn't far behind. I simply can't keep chocolate, chips, cookies, pasta, etc. in the house. I've tried "moderation" or a "normal" serving. I'd rather avoid the issue since I lose control everytime. I have to accept the fact that I don't think about food like a "normal" person. It is so much more than nourishment for me. Stark reality!

That's the biggie !!!!
You got to figure out (I'm speaking to myself also) that taking the risk of surgery and losing the weight is all meaningless if you gain it back......
Maybe you can eat Doritos????
If you can do it without gaining weight or it leading to other negative outcomes while still getting the proper nutrition....... You Win !!!!
Some people can do do it....some can't....

I cant do it. I have quit the Doritos. went to the store to day and looked at a bag and told my self no. I did not have this wls to gain any back. I was sick of being so big I could not tie my shoes with out holding my breath. So if I can not eat Doritos or sweets that is fine with me.
I can not say I do not miss them but they are no good and i do not want to have wasted my time and my surgeons time gaining my weight back.
