Slipping

Hi all. I suppose I'm coming here for a confession of sorts. I'm slipping bad. I'm eating foods I wouldn't have touched a month ago. Sugared cereals, ice cream, chips, candy, cokes. I'm smoking again. I feel now when I try to quit smoking again that i start eating more. I've gained 3lbs in the last few days. I did just get off my period so that's probably part of the weight but I need back on track. I'm so very stressed my finances are in shambles. I'm about 600 behind in bills and blah I just want to smoke or eat to make it better. I still have a ways to go, I'm NOT happy being a size 10/12. I'm thankful but I want to go lower.

Ok you recognize that you are out of control.  That's the good part.  Getting back on track isn't always easy.   But 3 pounds is my stopping point.  If I go up 3 pounds, I'm back on program like stink on a hog.

You know what to do.  Just. Do. It.

When you get the urge for food or a smoke, take a walk instead.  Or get some free weights and do some exercises right there in your house.  It's all about distraction.

I found recently that when I'm wanting to eat and I know darned well I'm not hungry, I chew a piece of SF gum.  It has really helped!  I also bought some SF hard candy.

Visualize yourself prior to weight loss.  REMEMBER how you felt.  Revisit that feeling.  You're not going to like it.

Good luck!!!!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I so understand sister!  We were sleeved 1 day apart.  These lat few days I have really had a control issue.  I ate a Klondike bar today!  Let's get back on track together.  You've done so great, keep it up.

I'm a stress eater and went into a tailspin a few weeks ago.  My husband had a severe car wreck and has been hospitalized twice since May.  Funny thing is that self-medicating with food didn't do a darn thing but make me guilty, depressed and let down.  We have a wonderful tool, our VSG, that works if we work it.  Protein first.  Get rid of all the s#&!t in your home.  Don't beat yourself up.  You've now proven that the old behavior just doesn't work anymore.  You "confessed".  We start each day with a clean slate and an opportunity to make it a good day. What's amazing is that when our head is in a good place, good things start to happen.  Best wishes.

Well if you look back through lots of old posts in this group you will see many with the same theme. Stress or something triggers some off plan eating and it snowballs. So you recognize the issue and want to face it which is the most important thing. Just because you ate some junk doesn't mean you have to continue. Find some things to do when you are stressing out and make a list such as taking a walk, cleaning out a drawer, having a cup of tea, playing a computer game, checking in on OH, doing a craft project, pulling weeds, or any number of other things. Then next time that stres****s, refer to your list and pick something else to do besides eat junk.

Don't know what to tell you about smoking except that I hear Chantix really works.

Check in here often. Diane

I know how you feel money problems are so stress full. I use to smoke 21/2 packs a day before surgery but quit and happy I did I can not afford them. now in stead I buy my vitamins. When i feel stressed i head for the gym or go walk or bike. I tell my self I do not want to be 300 lbs again never.

You can get out of this funk good luck.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.
