And ride the Big Dipper rollercoaster at the Boardwalk! Take the Roaring Camp railroad through the Redwoods. Drive up highway 1 to San Francisco, and spend the day in Golden Gate Park.
Have a ton of fun!

I lived in Monterey for a year while my ex was stationed at Fort Ord. There's a town between Monterey and San Jose that is known for their garlic creations. Very cool little shop. Don't recall the name of it. I'm sure you could Google it. The shops along the boardwalk are fun and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is absolutely fascinating! Make sure you do 17 mile drive and maybe have a light lunch in Pacific Grove at El Torito. You can watch the seals and otters from the windows of the restaurant! Driving South on HWY 1, you can hit Carmel by the Sea and see some beautiful vistas from the cliffs by the ocean. If you have any children with you, make sure to stop at Dennis the Menace park. It's a free city park in Monterey that has a lot of cool stuff for the kiddos. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
