VSG Maintenance Group
ive been booted..
I posted a topic yesterday and I felt kicked out from the normal VSG forum.. Both posts on my topic and personal messages telling me to come here.. sooo I am here..
All I want to know is when it gets down to the "last" pounds that you will be loosing... since we cant loose FOREVER.. does it start coming out of the ideal locations?? My original goal is 136.. I now have 10 lbs to loose but I still feel like I have plenty to loose out of my stomach and thighs.. I am ok with surpassing my goal if I need to..
So my question to you is at the end did it start coming from the places it seemed to never come out of? and does 10 pounds make a huge difference here at the end?.. I havent been at the end before so I dont know these things.

Hmm. I kinda lost all over for the most part. Got all the way to goal that way. Then I lost a bit more and it ALL came from my boobs. When I hit goal I was a 34D.. a month and 8lbs later I was a 32B.. Boo. Anyway, my point it no one knows where it will come off of. You may like it, you may not. Some places, like tummies, are more resistant, and some people need plastics on that area to make it match with the rest of the new body shape.. that is the boat I am in anyway!
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I responded to you yesterday on the VSG boards. I don't know why people were telling you to come here. I noticed that many long timers will go to both groups so I don't know why someone suggested you come here.
I believe the fat on our thighs is the hardest to lose because our thighs store fat to support pregnancy and lactation. Also, I think that if you've had babies, the belly fat, again, is going to be the hardest. I had 3 babies all over 9 pounds and I know I will never have a slim, bikini type belly unless I have plastics. I wish I could dictate where those last few pounds came from but our bodies don't work that way.
Also, I'm right there with you as far as those last 10 pounds go. I haven't lost weight in close to 3 months and I'm trying to decide if I want to be happy with where I'm at or if I want to work really hard to get those last 10 pounds off. I have increased my exercise and upped my protein by going back to a protein shake a day and I'm hoping that starts some movement. But for me, it's all about reaching that goal, even if I don't stay there. For me it's all about accomplishing something I've set out to do.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Thank you! I did see your post from yesterday.. I have one kiddo.. she is 8.. I will never have a bikini tummy.. my fat creases right at my belly button.. so I have fat rolls on my stomach.. I feel like I havent lost anything out of my tummy (even though I know I have) I guess that is the most dissapointing thing for me.. I want to be able to wear normal clothing and I still feel like I have to be careful with what I buy since it cant be tight unless I want to wear a tummy cincher all day, or let my rolls hang out.. I dont mind my thighs as much since they have always been a little jiggly.. even when I was thin. I am still loosing.. slower than at the start of course but still going..hopefully I dont have to worry about loosing too much. I appreciate the feedback :) I guess I am just hoping it will magically fall off someday :)

This must explain why I make such a good pregnant person and why when I was nursing I could have easily fed a village of babies! It must be all that "extra" that I keep stored in my thighs! :)

I have lost down below actual goal wt, but I still have the extra skin and fat at the belly area. Would probably have to have plastics done to get rid of that. I have lost more in my legs that I wanted to, and less under my arms than I wanted to, so can't speak for everybody, but my body is far from perfect, but I feel so much better, and I'm off all my meds, and have more agility, and energy than I have in years. My lab work has been perfect, and I can't complain.
I'm sure everyone is different, and I hope you lose all your wt in the areas that you want it to be gone from. If I was more diligent with exercising, it might be a different story for me, and if I wasn't getting ready to turn 60 years old, I'm sure it would be a different story also.
I'm happy with my sleeve and with my results.

I lost from my tummy last, thighs next to last and boobs right before that.
Now, obviously, I was losing all over but based on measurements, I lost more from the top down and also the outside in.
Also, once you stop losing on the scale, the body often redistributes the fat. My last bits off the thighs and tummy ended up moving up into the torso - which kind of needed it.
I also gained a bit back in the boob and chest area at some point.

well I lost pretty evenly all over which is surprising because in my younger days when i was fat but just not morbidly obese, i was rather bottom heavy. as i got fatter i just got fat all over. so i expected to end up pear shaped again but that didn't happen. My belly still seems big to me but i know its a roll of loose skin as i have a bmi of 20.6 so there just ain' no excess fat. Dr. says its skin. Because of the loose skin, its sometimes hard to tell if its just skin or fat. but you will definitely feel the difference of those last 10 pounds.
One unfortunate surprise is that I always was pretty wrinkle free for a 58 year old but as i lost weight from my pudgy face, some lines appreared on my previously smooth cheeks. didn't like that but got some retin-A to treat it.
I hit my surgeons goal but unintentionally kept losing . getting in the extra calories without resorting to junk eating proved harder tha i thought. So I lost an extra 15 and if you get to your goal and feel you want to lose a few more, go ahead. just don't let your bmi get below 20 or so. While my doctor told me I was done at 137, he thinks its fine that i was at 122 and that was not too thin.
And while you are very welcome here, I am sure you are also welcome on the main forum. Diane

I've lost fairly evenly although there are some things I just can't change, like the size of my hips as that is a frame issue...but whatevs.
I think there's a difference between the fat and the loose skin. I've noticed my arms/shoulders/thighs and calves have great muscle tone (except for the horrific batwings under the arms...sigh...there are not enough tricep dips in the world....) but my stomach is covered by loose skin. You can feel the ab muscle under there when you poke it but it looks like fat.
Sometimes that bugs because I get the muffin top but it isn't a real muffin it's a skin muffin! Wait, why is a skin muffin better? It's still muffin-y. And mmmmm, muffins, which I can't eat. But I digress.
The point is, the body does what it does and all you can really do is build the muscle and/or plastics. It's still better than being 250lbs (my pre-op weight).
