I've been on the VSG forum for quite a while. I didn't think I was ready, yet, for maintenance. But i'm closing in on my own personal goal weight. I don't know if I'll go below it or not. I don't feel like I need or want to. I think I'll just wait and see what happens in the next few months. My surgeon won't set goal weights. He says my body will stop when I'm ready. But he did say, more than once, that I was going to lose a lot of weight. I'm very pleased with my progress so far - weight wise. But the best thing is how good I feel. I don't think it's all due to losing weight, tho. I think most of it is because I'm eating healthier. I no longer live on carbs and sugar. It's protein first. Then fruit and veggies. None of the white food for me so far. I hope I can keep it up. I'm only 4 months out as of today.

Going to the garden to pick lettuce, onions, sage, thyme, and cilantro. I see a nice salad in my very near future complete with bacon crumbles and goat cheese topped with my very own vinegar and oil dressing. Yum.

welcome to our group. its good to get on here now as this group is about the really hard part of the journey which is keeping weight off long term. sounds like you are doing well and ditching the carbs and sugar (which i used to live on too) is important for many of us and good that you recognize this for yourself.  Enjoy that salad.  Diane

Welcome, Wert!  Yeah, this is a great place to hang out and trade ideas for the long haul.

And yes, stay away from the white garbage.  It got me into trouble after I was in the hospital and a nursing home for about six weeks (not wls-related), because they fed me a lot of it both places.  I have gotten back into some bad habits, and the cravings have come back.  White stuff is the devil!

Best wishes on your continuing journey :-)

Welcome Jacque.  What a great weight loss journey you've had.  You're so right about feeling better when eating healthy food.  I couldn't agree more!

You have done fantastically!!!
Just 4 months out, and really close to goal!! You should be really proud.
I am really happy for you. I know how good it must feel to have such wonderful results.
I am getting ready to turn 60 next month, and I started out close to the same weight, but I am a couple of inches shorter. The first goal I set for myself was 145, when I reached it at about 6 months out, I decided I wanted to lose more and reset my goal ultimately to 127. I am happy at that size, but would enjoy losing a few more pounds. thinking on getting down to 115 and get to the century club. Ill see how I look/feel when I get below 120.

Wishing you all the best, Carol
count your blessings!!!!   At goal weight.   I am 5 ft 3.
