numbness in legs
i am now 11 months out and 155 lbs down. i have numbness in my lower body since 1 month out. it is 24/7. the dr's cant figure it out. my b's were low but i have bben taking suppelments for several months now. my d was low, but also taking supplements. neurologist can't find anything. does anyone else have or had this problem? it can't just be me. it's very painful and i need some answers.
thanks
thanks
Numbness can have so many causes. If it's a vitamin deficiency, then it's usually the Bs and, since yours were low, it's possible they are still low even with supplementation or, if you've had them retested and they aren't low, maybe it's just taking a while to undo the damage.

According to my neurologist, this is becoming common in WLS patients. I have the same problem. It started at 4 months out. I posted earlier that it was at 6 months but it was actually 4. I started walking funny and then started falling. I had nerve studies done which showed I had damage but not sure why. I was ruled out for everything and I had many tests. I have been in PT and wear braces. Things are looking up now, but it has been really annoying. Good luck to ya!

good luck to you also. ny neurologist hadn't heard about this happening in wls patients, but i truly believe that is the root of it. mine r still numb but they are not anywhere near as weak as they use to be. i started b12 and b1 and now i walk on the treadmill. i just wish the feeling would come back and the nerve pain at night. the legs are very painful at night, it' s like the nerve go haywire
I was diagnosed with Meralgia paraesthetica shortly after my original band surgery. It plauged me for years and has mostly gone away after I lost weight following my VSG revision. It is really common after WLS and so many people experience this pain and don't know what it is! Does this sound like what you are experiencing? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meralgia_paraesthetica
