New Group Members Jump Right In

We are blessed to have lots of new members in this group. Who would have thought that last fall when I was bored in a hotel room and messing with my new laptop and started this group that in 8 months we would have 476 members.

We have always made it clear that everyone is welcome in this group regardless of surgery type or weight loss stage or if you have even had surgery yet. There is a lot to be learned and experienced and knowledgable sleevers are known to frequent this group.

So if you are a new member we would love it if you would introduce yourself, tell us about your journey so far and mention any issues you have or tips you have learned. Many think they must be at goal to participate here but that is so not true. So for the sake of keeping this group lively and not just the same people posting (i.e. me) tell us your story when you join. I always wish I knew more about our newer members so we could be more helpful and expand the vsg knowledge base.

Thank you Diane!

I had a hard time finding you all.  I'm just 4 short lbs from goal.

How come VSG Maintence doesn't show up under "FORUMS" above?  I had looked a few times, but never found a VSG maintence listed.  Found you by accident.    I do hang out at Lightweights and love that forum too.  I wonder what else I'm missing out on?

Thanks for being here!

Hi glad you found us. the vsg maintenance group is NOT a forum and is not listed as such. It is a group formed by an individual. Only OH can create a forum but any OH member can create a group. To search for groups you have to look under the tab Community. Thats why I list the vsgm group address under my ticker on all posts. I think there are lots of other groups for geographic areas and such. Tell us if you find any other interesting groups. Diane

Hello and thanks for the welcome. I'm 8 months post-op but not at goal yet. I've been a frustratingly slow loser, frustrating because I do all the "right" things (follow surgeon's guidelines, exercise regularly , drink all my water, take all my vitamins, and definitely do the low carb thing ) but yet I do still feel as if I should be 'further' along in this journey.

I'm thrilled to have lost over 70lbs, but I also have frustrating months when my grand total loss for the month is -2lbs (yes! better than a gain...but still!)

I keep track off all my eating on caloriecountabout.com and usually try to stay below 1,000 cals per day.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in here and introduce myself. Oh and another thing, my hubby is a sleever too, he is just shy of 4 months post-op, doing great...I'm SO happy we decided to do this together!
-8lbs lost during the 6 month insurance hoop jumping,
the rest is since surgery.

Dear Diane, thanks for posting a link on the VSG message Board. I have been following your own posts for a while, and benefitted from your CA IMR letter because I had to do the same thing when Anthem Blue Cross denied my appeal (of course, just a week after I underwent VSG surgery--7 months delayed because of my insurance fight with them--they approved it as a standard of care along with RNY).

I'm not at maintenance yet, either, but getting closer, and the closer I get, the less often I check the VSG Board because I don't need it the way I used to when I started investigating VSG and then in the early months! I've had an easy time of it--recovery, weight loss (though slower than most, but steady nonetheless, and I've learned to be patient), and the health benefits have been amazing. Knee pain, backaches gone, off all blood pressure and cholesterol meds, having fun trying out all sorts of new workout routines, hiking with my two Aussies, etc.

Looking forward to getting all the pointers I can as I head to maintenance and then MAINTAIN! Lori

P.S.  Trying to figure out why my ticker is not changing.  I have 16 pounds left to lose.  Oh well, I'll figure it out eventally, in the meantime glad I found this group.
