Are any of yall's fireflies more active than ever?  We have had some wicked storms lately and the other night before one rolled in there were more fireflies all crazily flickering than I had ever seen in my life!!

I caught some last night, a nice show but not the crazed blinking orgy that it had been the other night.

The cicada were cranked up, and the treefrogs were starting.

Just some wandering around the yard in case you would like to wander around and look at bugs with me :}

Oooh, fireflies are one creature I would love to see in person! The closest I've been to seeing them live is on The Pirates of the Carribean at D-land.

Our family will be in South Carolina in February next year so unfortunately we will miss out seeing them...so thanks for the pics :)

We camped last weekend and noticed there seemed to be more fireflies (lightening bugs here in Iowa) than usual.  There's such a calming affect sitting outdoors and hearing the quiet sounds of the country.  Your place is ideal!  Such a serene place to live.  You are lucky!  If I lived there, I wouldn't have to go camping.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Aw gee, thats one thing I miss about the midwest. Used to see loads of fireflies and trap them when we were kids. Some were yellow and some were green. None up here on the north coast. Diane

Thanks... I have only seen them a few times as they don't like southern california.  We tried bringing one home, my son wanted to show his Grandma, so we brought it home on the plane got it into the house, he took grandma in to a dark room and it lit up one more time so she got to see it too.

Thank you....  for the show!
