Saw a shrink today
I'll keep everyone updated, Sublimate. I sure hope it helps. He gave me a website to order a book written by a woman *****cently spoke at a bariatric seminar he attended. Here's the website:
www.nawls.com (National Association for Weight Loss Surgery)
I ordered 2 books. Dying to Change and WLS Stages of Transformation: What to Expect and How to Manage Change
Maybe I should make this a separate thread. Don't know if these books are any good, but he was reading the latter. Not a very big book, but he felt it was worth reading.
I also signed up for a free newsletter via e-mail.

What a great post. And who here cannot relate? I know that once I hit goal, the old me decided she needed to reappear. I have really been struggling lately getting "Trixie" to quiet back down. And Brandi, seeing it as immaturity sure might be helpful! Guess I need to put on the new man, and leave the old man in the past. I wish there was a group around here! I'm so glad we are here to encourage each other! Love you all.
Hi W,
be sure to tell us what you think of the books and anything useful on the therapy. We all need our heads worked on for this food issue thing. I thought a lot about it prior to surgery and kept having to remind myself to "let go" of food for all the things I misused it for like recreation, comfort, stress etc. Reminded myself of all the great food I have had - more than most people in the world, and kept trying to get mentally comfortable with the idea of putting all that behind me. So that was my "self therapy" approach. And I used to be addicted to peanut m and m's and Reeces peanut butter cups were the absolute worst.
Anyway, gl with the therapy. I am sure you will learn useful things. Dioane
