PCOS and hair loss
I'm just wondering if anyone here had PCOS that went into remission after their weight loss. What symptoms improved? Did your facial hair subside? If you had androgenic hair thinning, did you begin to regrow when your hormones stabilized?
I just need to know how patient I need to be...

I'm not sure how much I improved with weight loss, because I went through menopause at the same time I was losing weight! Shriveled up like a little old lady. It's as if there isn't a drop of estrogen left in my body ... and you know what? I couldn't care less! I'd much rather be shriveled up than fat as a pig!
Anyway, no, the facial hair did not subside. I still have a beard any teenage boy would be proud to own! Have to shave every day, sigh. Of all the things I learned from my daddy, how to shave was one thing I didn't think I'd need to know!!
Best wishes on your journey!

One of the things I have finally done for myself..in addition to this life saving VSG is LASER HAIR REMOVAL!!!!
I was so sick of the embarrassment of having to shaving every day...I am 35 and the chin hairs were horrific!
I found a good deal on a GROUPON and so it only ended up costing me like 325 for 6 treatments on my chin, lip, and neck. I have only had 2 so far and WOW what a difference....
I can now go days in between shaving and by the end of the 6 I should be nice and smooth!
So to answer your question..at 8 months out and down 90 pounds my hair issues didn't magically improve until I made them improve.
Other PCOS stuff does seem better though..getting periods EVERY month...first time in 25 years that has ever happened...
Good luck to you..consider looking into the laser treatments...It made me almost as happy as getting thin!

Thank you both. I'm less worried about my facial hair and more worried about the hair on my crown thinning. It's becoming noticable to more than just me, and I'm wondering if I need to break out the big guns (Rogaine) or have patience and see if it returns with continued weight loss. Sigh. So much waiting!
