just warning you, it's wordy but I think worth it: who doesn't struggle with procrastination?

youarenotsosmart.com/2010/10/27/procrastination/

and I love the name of the blog: You are not so smart!

little taste:

The trick is to accept the now you will not be the person facing those choices, it will be the future you – a person who can’t be trusted. Future-you will give in, and then you’ll go back to being now-you and feel weak and ashamed. Now-you must trick future-you into doing what is right for both parties.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Totally totally toooottaaaallly why the mantra "know yourself, set yourself up for success" is so important to any success I have - because my lazy bones are dense and Me and Ron White got a lotta "give up" in us :}

If i can make decisions for myself when I am sane, on a firm foundation in all aspects, and have future me's and now me's whole being in mind, then that will serve me better than harranged, hurried, overwhelmed, weary Brandi trying to do well for us all.

That brandi would like to just say F this S more often than not.  :}  She doesnt get to anymore, because the now me knows her and loves her enough to take the time to set up guard rails and strategies!

I used to think we are all on the same team but maybe I might be better served by not trusting my Future Me.

do it NOW, Future Me is not always to be trusted - that's for sure.

now, who is Ron White?

Oh we are on the same team, but it seems the GOAL of the team changes *for me* the more harried I get!

Ron White is a funny comedian.  He jokes that stand up has been his only job, he never had the want to do anything structured, he says his grandfather used to say about him "That boy has a lot of give-up in him."

I recognize that trait in me.  :}

I love it, I frequently grind to a halt myself. like to think I could get past  this or at least deal better.

for sure, I get harried my goal seems to be avoiding the feeling of harried-ness more than anything else. like on the starship Enterprise, RED ALERT and ugly sirens and stuff.

makes it hard to get the dishes done let alone not eat the pizza. yesterday I had a slice I didn't actually want just because it was FREE.  like free pizza is the goal.  I was somewhat harried at the time: going home from work is always a harried period of time.

speaking of harried - I am reading a book called The Unthinkable: who survives when disaster stinks and why

it's very good reading - recomend it highly -  and I found an old army saying I like, The Eight P's

Proper Prior Planning and Preparation Prevents **** Poor Performance!

Yes!!  This is one of the many reasons I cook my food in advance and have it with me at all times.. because it is my way of planning for success and dealing with the expected temptations.
