Whey protein concentrate vs. Whey protein isolate

Here's a good article that talks about the difference between whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate. It's oriented toward consuming a protein drink as part of exercise (and defending their own choice to use isolate ), but the technical discussion applies to everyone:

The bottom line is that a drink (or bar) with 30 g of protein that comes from whey protein isolate has the same amount of protein from the exact same source as a drink (or bar) with 30 g of protein from whey concentrate.

The difference is that the concentrate will also have lactose, which is an issue when exercising and for those of us who are lactose intolerant. It will have some extra fat as well (though how much fat both drinks have will ultimately depend on all the ingredients in the drink).

I guess I always thought isolate was better, that's what's in my Syntrax Nectar Natural Peach. also, "monk fruit concentrate" for heaven's sake.

taste good, that's the main thing.  had to google monk fruit

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
