Yeah, my brother has been going to a support group for some time but I think its in Lincoln where he lives so that could be him that shows up if he was a pre op. His first name starts with an R. And I may be back to Omaha and Lincoln in the next month or two to see family and brother wants me to come to support group with him to show off how well the sleeve works i think. So hey, maybe I will see you.  Diane

Nope, the guy from Lincoln is post-op and has lost all of his weight.

congratulations & you may want to suggest the men's forum, too.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Hi Diane, I have been away camping with my family and just came home and saw your post.  Congratulations to your brother on an uneventful surgery, now we hope for an easy recovery and fast and consistent weight loss.  He is lucky to have you as a sister.

Thanks Elina, he is out of the hospital and doing very well. came through it well and is already off the diabetes drugs with normal blood sugar readings.

One thing worries me. His surgeon is much more "loose" on what to eat than ours  and told him to eat whatever he could tolerate. on way home from hospital he had a small smoothie with nurses' permission. So  I told him how important it is to break those sugar and carb habits and next time if he has to go to a restaurant (which he did because his wife needed to) he should get skim milk or broth. he was told 60 to 65 g protein and i told him to try and do more to keep his hair and for health and to really cut the sugar and carbs. This surgeon Dr. Winterstein  has many  other successful patients on this forum and he does a 32 bougie  and is good but this diet stuff worries me. He has 140 lbs to lose. So I had a long talk with him today and told him all that I know and to stay away from that stuff and get more protein. Hope he does it. He has started a walking program which is good. He says so far nothing disagrees with him and the protein drinks are fine. He ate some cream of wheat and I told him to stop that.  Also his surgeon does not do actigal. this worries me too. i told him to ask again. They do have a very regular follow up program.

he gets 5 weeks off work as he has a ton of accrued sick leave so i hope he can get into the good habits. now is the time.    Diane

I think I would be worried too.  It is good that you are giving him additional nutritional guidance.  I hope he decides to listen to you, even if your recommendations are different from his doctor's.
