Hi Elina,  No data to back it up except what they've seen.  What I can say is that they were handing out these statistics before they were really doing the VSG @ Kaiser, so it must be based on Band and RNY.  Seeing how easy it is to eat carbs and gain weight quickly ( I gained 2 pounds on a 4 day business trip last week - then lost them within 2 days),  I'm taking the 1 in 3 to heart and keeping it close to help me stay out of trouble like I did last week with the stress eating.  I think any of us can gain if we don't follow the protein first etc, at least I sure can.

I bet Dr. Cirangle will have better statistics because he's been doing the Sleeve longer and probably does more patients.  I'll be very curious to see his findings.

I was told the same thing during my pre-op appointment. So, if 30 % regain most of their weight back, then 70 % keep at least 50% of the excess weight off. During my literature search, I came across the same stats and they were based mostly on the RNY. There is quite a bit of data available to back this up.

Regain is possible with ANY weight loss surgery and since the VSG is a restrictive procedure, the stats are probably going to be similar. The further out one gets, it becomes less about the surgery and more about making lifestyle changes. Keeping the lifestyle changes and good habits are the keys to success, as well as an active lifestyle. It is very, very challenging to make and keep lifestyle changes.

You look absolutely beautiful, Donna.

You had such a rough road after your VSG and always had an amazing attitude. You are a true inspiration.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
