Weird problem - ****yx pain - normal?
I have been having a problem the past couple of months but haven't mentioned it because it only bothered me when I did weighted decline crunches or sometimes if I sat in the car and the loose skin was kind of squished up around it...but now it's worse...
My ****yx always feels like it's protruding or something. I have very little muscle or fat in that area and it's to the point where even sitting on the couch in a reclined-ish position hurts it. Heck, it hurt just laying on my back in bed the other night (felt like it was digging in my skin). I have to sit a certain way in the car to avoid direct pressure.
I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this since losing weight or if maybe my problem is due to a terrible fall down the stairs that I had when I was 19 years old (I read that after injuries, the bones can fuse and form differently). I have read that the bone can acutally be removed, but obviously I'm hoping to never get to that point.
It's really becoming more of a problem every week, though. :(
I'm on the couch now and I either have to lean to the side or sit super upright so as not to put any pressure on it. It digs and tears the skin around it. I've actually gotten sores that "scabbed" over due to it smashing my skin. Ugh. Embarrassing.

Oh wow. Oh gosh, I hope I don't have to do that. Sounds scary and painful. But at least I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. Maybe I'll make a doctors appointment to discuss it.
I felt around on my husband's butt (lol) and I can't even feel his. He has muscle and body fat there. I just have loose skin. My luck!
I'm happy to hear you don't have that problem. I had actually wondered since you said your glutes are hard to build.
What stinks is that I think I have to give up the declines. I do other ab work, but they are one of my very favorite exercises. :(

They are hard to build, but when I was cardio queen during my loss phase, all my cardio sessions were incline interval (that were geared towards making booty) work, so I wonder if that helped me to not lose as much glute muscle as I would have otherwise ? Or maybe it was never going to hurt me anyway? (like the gallbladder thing).
So much of this, what happens, does not happen is such a die toss it seems!
I wonder if there is some sort of ****yx orthotic pad thing you might could use? I mean during lifting, since carrying a doughnut around the gym would seem silly. :}

Hi Mandy,
That is wierd that you mention this...because I too have this. I was thinking the other day that I have never felt mine before but now it hurts when I sit. It doesn't sound as bad as yours but I have never had this pain before. I think I still have plenty of cushion but I can sure feel it and it hurts at times. I think you should have yours looked at, it sounds pretty bad. You can also try sitting on a donut...those blow up round things with a hole in the middle..like a donut! ( we can have these donuts!!)
good luck
Patty

Whatcha need is an ass pad......ha ha ha...
Actually, padded undies is what you really need. I happen to be an expert in this area.
Seriously, I have the same problem. It was the only thing I "liked" about being obese. I'm not sure if you know this, but I have been thin my whole life, My huge and sudden weight gain hit me around 2005. That said, I've had that tailbone issue my whole life. You are experiencing the skinny girls dilemma. Nice huh?
I was serious about the ass pad. I rode horses forever, and had to buy special gel pads for my saddle, otherwise, I could not handle riding, because the pain was so bad. I also bought these special underwear that looked like bicycle shorts that were padded for riding that kept the tailbone from hitting the saddle. I had/have the same problem with riding a bike, I bought a padded granny seat, and it works out well. Every time I buy a new bike, the seat comes off, and gets replaced with my granny seat. I also cannot handle sitting in a hard chair for very long. Yep, I have a sharp, pokey little tail bone too. They sell lots of padded undies for various sports. Because it's a common problem among the thin. I didn't know I could get surgical help for it....wow.....I might have to look into that....
Here are a few examples, I really like the ones in the first link, from REI. I might order a few pairs myself:

I think I may have been called an ass pad once or twice in my life. Oh no wait, that's asshat. haha
I didn't know they made padded undies for cycling!! Even when I was heavy I could not cycle due to the pain of the seat. This is why I dont' think I will ever try spinning. Well, one reason. The other is that I hate cardio. :~)
Oh, and if we go out to dinner and sit on wooden seats, my butt is sore the entire next day. I still have a big butt, but it's mostly skin and butt flaps...very little actual mass there. Booo.
Thanks for the links...checking them out now...

Hi Mandy,
I have the pain issue too. When I do crunches or ab work on the floor, I have to use a pad, because the floor is too hard. I just started riding my bike again and bought some gel padded bike capri pants. Feels like I have a load in my pants, but if cuts down on the butt pain from riding a bike, I'm all for it. I can also use them for a spinning class that I keep saying that I want to try.
They make liners with gel that you can use underneath other shorts or pants, but I think the ones that have sewn in inserts are more comfortable and easier to use.
