MY SURGIVERSARY!!

PBJ
on 6/4/11 1:30 am
Yesterday was my surgiversary!!...and I have to say I felt emotional about it all day.  I am so VERY thankful for this lifechanging tool that I was lucky enough to get. Yes it is only a tool...I still have had to do alot of work.   It has completely changed me in everyway...my physical and mental health.  I come from a very disfunctional family ( my family I grew up with...not my now family) and have not had any contact with them for about 2 years.  They know nothing about my change and today I will see them as I am dropping off my daughter to a birthday party....yes I have anxiety about this but the fact that I am in such a healthier place in my life...is so empowering.  Thank goodness for my VSG!!!
Yesterday I was wearing a size 8 jeans...I don't remember ever being a size 8.  in high school i was a 9/10 and weighed less than I do now..so I don't get it but I'll take it.  The feeling of being able to buy clothes is fabulous..I love to shop now!!  ( I did before but never clothes for me...it was always for my kids or the house..now it is clothes for me!!)
As of this am I am officially 1.4 lbs away from my goal...and I will get there!! These last 10 lbs have been pure torture..I have had to fight for every ounce.  (you were right about that Frisco!)

I am also so appreciative of OH!   I don't have a support group so this is it for me..and it makes the journey so much better.

Here's to all of us!!

Congratulations!! Sounds like you are doing great!

I agree so much with this changing both physical and mental health. Before I used to want to be a hermit because I was embarrassed about my size, but now I looooove going out and showing off. haha

Let us know how it goes with your family. Could be a very stressful situation for sure.

Congratulations on your one year. Take some time to reflect back on how much you have accomplished and how great it feels and how you are going to keep this great feeling and healthy condition for the rest of your life! You have totally succeeded by all measures. Isn't it fun to be in single digit sizes!!!!!  So enjoy your success and bask in it. That last pound will leave when its ready but meanwhile you are living the slim life!   Diane

What a year this has been for you, so much has changed about you physically and emotionally.  I know because I went through the same thing at one year out.  Take time to enjoy this great milestone.  I hope that with every surgaversary this gets easier and better for you.  Take care and you can be part of our support group ( Dr. C's ) any time you want.  Just let us know.  I can't imagine him turning you away.
