Weight fluctuations

Good Morning everyone.  I wanted to share an observation I had this morning about my weight fluctuations.  When I first reached goal and then for about a year and a half afterwords, my weight remained very steady.  I was more or less 103.8 on the dot.  Sometimes I would go up or down but never by more then 1.5 lbs.  Now that I am further out, my weight fluctuates more.  I still don't go below 103 but the high end is much higher now, closer to 106.  It really worried me for a while as I thought it means that I am gaining weight, but I think it just means I am having bigger weight swings.  I now swing between 103-106 on the scale.  I know that 3 lbs. doesn't seem like a lot to most people, but I am tiny, so it is a lot for me and it is double the swing I had earlier.

Hey Elina....

I'm workin with about a 4lbs. swing.....148-152 at 20 months out and 6 months into stabilized weight.

When I go up for "unknown" reasons..... I'm pretty sure it just has to do with water intake/retention and timing of natural body evacuations.

Here is some pre-24 month observations on restriction. As you may know...I have taken it upon myself to be the case study for "Under Eating" the Sleeve.

Yesterday I made Egg Salad out of 2 normal sized hard boiled eggs......(not the Extra Large)

I ate about 3/4 of the egg salad and one sandwich size slice of Harvarti Cheese and I was good for like 4 hours.

Hey Frisco, I try not to overfill the sleeve either.  I am not always successful at it, but I try my best.  My typical breakfast consists of two fried eggs or one slice of P28 Bread, with laughing cow cheese and one egg on top or two hard boiled eggs mashed with one laughing cow cheese.  Any of these choices keep me full for about four hours.  I am very hungry by lunch time though.  Lunch is usually homemade chili or tuna poki or some other protein and a bite or two of veggies.  It starts to come apart sometimes around mid afternoon.  I start to crave frozen yogurt.  Lately, I have been making a protein ice cream with sugar free chocolates.  A portion is about 200 cals. and is full of protein.  Dinner just like lunch and then I need to stay away from the refrigerator for the rest of the night.  It works most days.  I think as long as I stay under Dr. C's goal for me, which was 110 lbs. I am OK.

I have also been an under capacity eater since I got to solids - but for me - the only way I will stay full for almost 4 hours is if I take a PPI (which I do not need for acid, since I do not have issues with acid) and then I get the concrete gut, which cancels out *any* benefit of the full for maybe an hour longer.  I do not know if my stomach has a quicker shuffle through and this is why I have the protein retention issues or what, but *meh* that part of it is what it is.

My bounce is like yours and has everything to do with what you talk about.  I wake up much earlier than my bowels do, so there is no way I could not eat or drin****il my bowels woke up and evacuated before I eat or drank coffee!  Oy!

My bounce is also a little higher on the days after lifting days, and less on days after Zumba night, that has got to be a glycogen/water retention in the muscles thing.

4 pound swings are normal because of glycogen. It's stored in our muscles for quick energy. For every oz. of glycogen, 3 oz. of water are used to store it. Most people can store about a pound of glycogen in their muscles. So, that means using up 1 pound of glycogen frees up 4 pounds.

glycogen is how carbohydrates are stored in the liver and muscles and is used for energy.
muscle glycogen is specifically for anerobic efforts and aerobic efforts as the increase intensity.

My weight fluctuates a lot. On any given day I am between 150 lbs and 156 lbs. My last period I gained 10 pounds in two weeks. I was up to 166 and freaking out! I lost the 10 lbs in 4 days once my period ended.

Wow, ten pounds would send me into hysterics.  I am so glad you lost it in four days.  I hope that never happens to me, or my husband might have to have me committed.
