You know. I've never had chai tea.  I guess I never looked into it because a lot of flavored tea has little dried barley balls (and other grains) in them as a transporter for the flavorings.  I have to avoid Barley, Rye and wheat.  They don't soak the tea leaves in the flavorings, they have to have another vessel to carry the flavorings to the cup of tea, so they soak the flavorless dried barley and other grains of unk origin and type in the flavorings so that when you dunk the tea bag in the cup of ho****er, you get the flavorings which seep out of the barley along with gluten and the steeping of the tea leaves.  The worst part about it is the manufacturer's do not have to declare it as unsafe, in fact, they can even put gluten free on the package....lies.   The only gluten thing they have to declare is wheat.  I found this out the hard way.  I drank flavored tea and was sick for 3 days.   GGGGRRRRR. Also, many flavorings and fillers that are also unsafe  So, I'll have to research it to see if there is a safe one out there.  I really would love to try chai tea, everyone talks about it like it's an incredibly awesome drink.  What does it taste like?  Spicy tea?

P.S.  The tea thing is something I never ever wanted to waste my brain power learning in my life......but had no choice to do so.......I hope you didn't mind reading/learning it....

It is spicy, very cardamom-y.

But, its not worth being sick over if the packagers are liarpantspeople!  Nothing's that good!  Not even sugar cookie tea!!

True....but someone somewhere should have it gluten free and not be a liarpantspeople, I hope.  But, unless I know for sure and have positive reviews from other Gluten impaired peeps like me....I won't go there.  I'll search the Celiac.com forum.  Mine is an allergy, but the food restriction is identical.  We just have different reactions.  I have a histamine reaction, they have a digestive reaction.  I'll bet the  chai topic has come up sometime on there since it seems to be a popular drink.

MMMMM,,,spicy.....cardamomy...sounds like a dream.

I might even be able to make it from scratch.

I did not know this!  Are there any tea brands/types you have found that don't do this?  I'm not allergic to gluten but I avoid all grains as they cause inflammation and I already have arthritis.

Hey, I understand the grain/arthritis connection.  As a matter of fact, my sister tested positive to wheat as well, but she has a silent allergy.  She doesn't have the BIG histamine reaction like me, however, she has R.A.  and wheat is an inflammatory substance.  My sister is thinking about cutting out wheat but doesn't want to.  She knows it could help her R.A. symptoms. Sometimes she wonders if there is a connection between her R.A. and wheat.

Not eating wheat is difficult and I hate it with a passion, but I have no choice.  I get the typical allergic/histamine response with hives even if I get unseen cross contamination amounts.

Actually, I gave up looking for flavored tea.  It just wasn't worth it to me.  I can drink plain black tea.  I can add natural flavors if I want but cannot add any of those little bottles of flavorings from the grocery store because the flavoring is suspended in grain alcohol (alcohol is the vessel that carries the flavor).  Which is unsafe.

I did check into Chai tea today.  It looks like starbucks is safe.  However, I would have to buy the packaged one and make it at home because they use the same mixers  for most of their drinks, and most of their flavored teas have gluten, and a lot of their drinks have malt which is made from barley, so there would be cross contamination.  When I go to a coffee shop like Starbucks, the safe thing for me to do is have plain coffee that is brewed or plain black tea.  When extra flavors and ingredients and mixing is involved, it gets dangerous.  I read a whole thread about it on celiac.com.  I didn't realize how bad Starbucks could make me sick.  I'm glad I have always taken the safe route with brewed coffee or black tea!!!!

So now you know why I eat whole foods and cook everything myself from scratch in my gluten free kitchen.  It sucks......but it beats being sick and it's healthier than processed foods.  So, it's a forced blessing.

So, if you stay away from all grains, you must eat meat, nuts, veggies, fruits, legumes, dairy products only?  That is a very healthy diet.

I love CLICK! Started drinking it pre-op and started back on it a few days after my surgery (doctor approved).  I don't necessarily use it as a protein supplement though, I use like I used Nestle's Quik when I was a kid.

I'm having a little in my coffee right now.  I also like it cold in my iced coffee. The fact that it has protein is a nice bonus, but I like it for the flavor (Vanilla Latte only).

Cheers!
