Question for those of you that are 2 or more years out.

I am noticing a shift in my ability to just drop the pounds the way I did in early maintenance.  This started a few months back but has gotten worse in lately.  I will be two years out on 6/29 and am wondering if any of you have noticed a similar thing around the two year mark.  I put on a few pounds and have actively been trying to take them off, but it's just not really happening.  I told myself that it's water weight, but it that was true it should have left by now.  I am still only talking about three pounds of so, so it's not the end of the world, but it is getting harder and harder to just take them off. Do any of you notice the same thing further out?

I dont but you know I am no good at the intuative eating, and I have a seriously higher bounce about than you do, but always have.

But, I remember someone answering some post that they also found the few pounds didnt leave quite as quickly as they used too.

Which is very booooo for everyone involved.

Well I guess that there is only two ways I can look at this.  I can either except the suckiness factor of this, or I can look at it as a possible kick in the behind to introduce exercise into my routine.  Exercise is my life long nemesis.  If I could, I would punch it in the face, I hate it so much.  But it is possible that I have reached a point when I will have to follow the old Chinese proverb about killing your enemy by making him your friend.  If it's true that I will have to pull the trigger on this, I am going to need a serious attitude adjustment, because I just want to throw a huge temper tantrum about it.  I REALLY don't want to have to do it, but if there is no other choice, I will get over it and force myself.  The child in me would really rather sabotage the whole thing and eat bon bons.  :)  I might be need a long adult  to inner child talk.  :)

Just KEEP punching it in the face if you have to resort to it!

If you *have* to resort to it, I wish on you that you could find something that was active enough to make the difference and was joyful in your heart.

I know your plate is full with work and family and everything, so I would also wish on you that it made your heart glad enough that the time doing it felt like it was absolutely FOR you, and benefitted your family and the rest of your interactions because it made you joyful.

This is how Zumba is for me, just joy.  Like dancing with girlfriends without smelling like smoke in the morning.

Perhaps!? You just arent at your weight back down tipping point yet and will be there tomorrow!  But until then - Peace, joyful activity N setch on you!

I would join you probably if those bonbons were caramel.

Honestly Elina, I don't get your attitude toward working out.  Now don't get mad at me here...but, you are so lucky to be small enough to actually move your body.  It's a God given gift.  Look at it that way...as a gift.  Find something that brings you joy...even if it's dancing in your living room.

There's a man at my gym in a wheel chair and he can't do much but he's there trying.  I'll bet he'd love to get on a treadmill!  It's all what you make of it darlin'.

Hugs

Laura

P.S.  Don't be mad at me

Laura, I am not mad at you darling.  I get why someone would not understand my attitude toward exercise.  It is so very good for us, health wise.  But to me, I literally feel like I am dying when I am out of breath.  It must be some psychological barrier, but even as a small child, I never ran once.  I mean not even in PE class when I was pushed by the cattle prod of a bad grade, I took the F rather than run those laps.  I might just have to find a Zumba class nearby as I do like to dance and dance never felt like exercise to me.

Oooooh..  I GET the not liking out of breath thing. My asthma is HORRIBLE and not being able to breathe deeply, fully, like I have control over it sends me into a panic.

You live in such a groovy part of the state/city that surely it seems that there would be something that would make your heart sing!  Belly dancing?  Flamenco dancing?! Yall probably have fun interpretive stuff somewhere around, but since you havent been looking, its just not shown up!!

Anyway, if you *have* to resort to it, there MUST surely be some sort of groovy alternative shake your bootydown class near to you!

I would think!!

The thing is that it is unlikely you'd be out of breath unless you exerted yourself too hard.  There's no reason to exert yourself that hard. I think you are remembering how out of breath you would have been when carrying around a lot more weight.. it would take a lot more to get you there now.

I've seen you dance for a long time, and other sorts of exercise isn't going to make you breathe any harder than that unless you force yourself to run or go faster than you are used to.  You can go at a pace that doesn't make you out of breath.  I certainly do.. that's why I still don't run that far even though I've been working on it for a while.

It is not necessary to make exercise aerobic to make it effective.  Just going on a 30 minute brisk walk with your kids every day is exercise and it counts, even if you aren't out of breath. Also I still think that the best way for you to get in exercise it to take up dancing and take your daughter with you to a dance class like Zumba.

This way you could spend some special one on one time with her and get some fun exercise a the same time.  I would go with you too!

Yes! This is right on! Last week I dug out a vhs tape I have, Kung Fu Step Circuit Training. Well, after the most strenuous part of the exercise, the woman on the tape says "if you can't talk to me right now please stop", so I responded back "Are you crazy? Why would I be out of breath?"

But the exercises did kick my butt and I was pretty sore the following day without overexerting my lungs or being out of breath.

Yes to what Sublimate said...we're not talking boot camp here.  Just walking...moving a little...baby steps.  I'm not Jillian Micahels after all.
