Light headed

So post surgery, after about 6 - 8 months, I went to six flags and got light headed during the upside down parts of roller coastes. I didn't black out, but my vision started to black around the edges, but as soon as the motion stopped, it came right back.

About 1 year after surgery, i went to disneyworld and was fine except for upside down parts (but it wasn't as bad as before) or one g-force ride (space simulator which I hated).

I had gone to the doctor about being fainty while doing normal activities, like goign from sitting to standing, previous to the disney world trip and she thought it was just my body adjusting to the weight loss. I was at a point where I would start to black out just when walking around and would have to squat to make my vision come back. I never fully fainted. Blood levels have always been good. Was low in vitamin D both times, but not TOO low, still in the normal range, and have been in prescription dosges of that.

The fainty thing got better, but lately feels like it has come back a bit. I am still losing, but much more slowly. Sometimes when I'm standing up, I feel like I need to sit down.

I'm posting this b/c I'm trying six flags again this weekend with a friend. My plan is just to make sure i'm hydrated like crazy, take dramamine, and see if it's better than last year. Now I'm a year and  a half out.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Well, I doubt this is your issue, but I'll post anyway just in case it is. This all happened to me at 6 months post VSG.   When my gallbladder started acting up, I had your symptoms first.  this went on for a few weeks, followed by headache, stomach pain, shoulder pain, back pain....finally I started having gallbladder attacks, then had my gallbladder removed (surgery was 5 weeks ago).  Also, my weight loss was very slow through this whole ordeal.  That lightheadedness really scared me.  It was bad.  Just like you described.  Do you still have your gallbladder?

I just realized that your surgery was in 2009.  I thought you were around 6 months out and maybe, like me, your gallbladder was acting up from the rapid weight loss.  Of course, you can have a gallbladder acting up for years......without having major toe curling attacks.

when i had lightheadedness, it was low blood pressure and time to quit the meds, with doctors approval of course. the other thing it sometimes means is you need fluid. maybe you were a little dehydrated. sometimes i feel like this when i stand up but it passes.

but i get car sick and air sick and all that and just don't do amusement park rides any more. not worth it.  diane
