Long story short for those who fuss I use too many words.

*I track things.
*My hand hurt.
*Looked on tracking sheet and found out why.

What?  So? What's the huge revelation?  Yea.  That's why I use too many words fusserpantz people! Cliff and his notes sometimes miss a lot!

I track all SORTS of things.  Food in, exercise, weight, moods, hormonal cycles - random pains get noted too (see if they are hormonal, when I started with x pain - is it related to anything), moods, cycles of medications, protein supplementation, different vitamin supplementation, et cetera.

I get not everybody cares to do this, and for some folks its a triggery thing, and for some folks its a return to "diet mentality" and they want no part.  So - this is just me sharing one of its benefits for me, but knowing its not for everyone for a zillion reasons.  For me, its *meh* 5 minutes every day and it helps me to know myself, set myself up for success, prepare to be kind to me (and others!) when I know hormones are coming, helps me to see if various foods have triggered a few days later of head hunger, blahblahblah.

For the past few days, my right hand has been aching me something awful.  I do transcription for a living, have for 17/18 years, and so my hands/wrists/arms get tired out fast and repetitive motion stuff hurts me.  Its been bad enough that every other day, I have been taking a naproxen, which I do not like to do, because while we CAN take NSAIDs, its just honestly good if we do not *have to* ya know?

The other day I said "forget it Naturally More!  We are breaking up!" and I got some Blue Diamond Almond butter.  To make it a protein rich snack like before, I have been adding powdered egg white and wheat germ in addition to the cocoa powder.  Its kind of hard to mush up into the fudgey substance, but I am not a quitter! :}

*backstory*  I am on maintenance. I have a penchant for this thing I made that is calorically dense, but super delicious and curbs any sweet tooth that might be approaching.  Its Naturally More Peanut Butter ( has egg whites so higher protein count than regular, has flax and wheat germs, so good omega fats and fiber - if you are looking for justification :} ) mixed with Hershey Dark Cocoa powder and rolled up in a slice of havarti.

Its HEAVEN to me.  I eat at least once a day in addition to a smaller than usual protein meal.  If I need to make up calories at the end of the day I may have one or two - depends.

Anyway - lately I am discouraged with Naturally More. Their caloric content went up 60ish calories, and the last 4 containers I have gotten, the peanut butter is soupy, runny, goopy. Now, its a "natural" peanut butter, so it always has separated and is not thick like the typical peanut butter (like is good on sammiches), but anyway - lately I have had to add more calories just to thicken it up, so I have been adding more cocoa and some ground up flax seed.

This morning my hand is aching again - and so I go back over my handy dandy tracker sheets (I also use a computer program for foods and stuff, but moods, pains, and just jotting down my "what's eating today" and checkoff list for vitamins and H2O go on my paper sheet) and what I realize is

The pain in my hands started the day AFTER I broke up with Naturally More and starting subbing the almond butter/egg white/wheat germ mix that is MUCH harder to mush together!

So there I go!  Now to harass Naturally More and find out if this new formulation goobeyness is going to last, and then figure out a solution that does not hurt me.

So, in conclusion....

Just kiddin!

Edited to add an important demographic.   :}

Interesting observations, though you do seem to wander a lot!  I don't think I'll ever break up with Naturally More.  But I sure wish they would return to their old formulation!

Me and Deon, we are wanderers.

Dude at Naturally More (this morning) said he was sorry about the "bad batch" and asked me to give him some numbers and he would send me a replacement jar!

Fuss him and I bet he will you too!  Although, yea.  I am unsure about the return to old.  Boo.

OMG, I may track, but I look like a total slacker in comparison to you HoundMama!  Would ya come over and track for me please.  I've been sick for a week and haven't tracked my food as carefully as I generally do.  I've gone up a pound while not eating very much.  I'd best get back to it before the pound sticks to me.

I'm glad you figured out the culprit of your pain.  You can't be walking around with that sort of pain in your line of work.

Yes!  I would do that for you, MyLee!  Take care of you, or I shall shake my sore fist towards you and growl.

*shakes fist to sky, because I am geographically a retread.*

Here's the response I got from Naturally More:

Thank you for your email and past purchases of our product Naturally More. As is our company, Snac Lite’s procedure, we send samples of all our products for testing from time to time. The current label reflects the current testing. However we are now in the process retesting our product to return our nutritional back to the former label. While we do tweak formulation from time to time, I believe the oil content in the peanuts has caused this change. From crop year to crop year, the oil content of the peanut due to the growing season’s weather can significantly change.

 The ingredients have not changed.

  While we are not satisfied with the new nutritionals, the current Net Carb, Omega and Protein claims have stayed the same. If you will email me your address I will be happy to send you a replacement jar.

  We at Naturally More are committed to providing to our consumers the best possible nutritional products. We appreciate your business.

Hi B

Two things:

Where do you get Natually More peanut butter? Can I get it at a health food store or do I order it? I have become a peanut butter freak since wls and a heaping spoon in the evening is a really filling snack that keeps me from eating other stuff and has no cholesterol. But would like a healthier kind. I tried some other brand with less fat and sugar but it didn't taste so hot. Maybe will mix PB2 with regular.

Second, I sympathize on the hand pain. Been having a lot myself for a variety of reasons. I ice the arthritic joint from time to time which helps. I also have a parafin dip (from Bed Bath and Beyond for $30) and those hot dips feel good. Don't know that it promotes much healing but sure feels good. So you might do that if you don't already. I am working through an injury and its just gonna take awhile and I am not very patient with it. Wear a weight lifting glove when driving to help with grip. Art work ain't easy. I do think keeping up with the protein promotes healing and I do some range of motion exercises but thats about all there is but wait. Once got a cortisone shot in the painful thumb joint. hurt like hell for a day but eventually brought great relief which only lasted a few months. I saw in a catalog for old people stuff some gloves that can be heated and worn and may get some.

Anyway if I find any more good ideas for hand/wrist pain i will tell you and I hope you will share too. its a real ***** Appreciate your thoughts. And I am a big advocate of tracking - still track all food at 18 months and will for a long time.

Diane
