Brother has a date!
You all know I gently suggested to my older more smo brother that he consider this surgery. He took it from there and after some insurance foibles and paperwork hassels he now has a surgery date in June! So we will be a two sleeve family. Anybody else have a sleeved sibling?
I am so glad he is doing this as he has been overweight all his life like me and has more comorbidites than me and I feared for his wellbeing. So think good thoughts for June 10th. He lives 2000 miles away so I won't be there but may take a trip back for a number of reasons a few weeks after.
We have another brother who is skinny as a rail. Go figure. The other two of us got all the fat genes.

Hey Jimbo, Still hoping to get brother and you in contact. He is working a lot right now but has a million sick days built up so will be able to take a month or more off work to recover. I am hoping he will spend time on OH during recovery and make some buddies and learn more. He is a lurker on the vsg group but needs a vsg mentor as we all did. He is heavier than I was and older and probably has at least 150 to lose; maybe more. He does go to regular support groups pre op though most people are banders. Thankfully his surgeon does a lot of sleeves and not so much of the other procedures. Wish I could be around at the time but may get back there later.
So will remind him of your kind offer. You are the expert!! Diane

Well, I think brother is a lurker on the vsg main board. When he has the surgery hopefully he will spend more time there during recovery. He is lucky to have built up about a zillion days sick leave so he can take as much recovery time as he wants. I have talked to him alot about what to expect and how to prepare and also to his wife on getting educated and being supportive (she is obese but not a surgery candidate). So doing what I can long distance to help. Diane
