Trying again, sigh ...
Guinea Pig Geekville/ComicCon/DRagonCon, kind of :} Except, folks do not tend to dress up like their favorite guinea pigs. ha! There are raffles and different things, and the proceeds mostly go to help Lisa fund the rescue, because taking in, getting care for unwanted kritters (of any kind!) is never cheap, ya know?
Muwah to you!!

Pigstock 2010 is a success in Roswell, GA (updated)

Credits: Photo: Georgia DzuricaPigstock, the annual "pignic" for guinea pigs and their people. was held Saturday, June 5, at Barrington Hall, in Roswell, GA. More than 25 pigs showed up to crop grass, eat carrots, mingle with new friends, get pedicures and bask in the admiration of humans who have gone crazy over cavies. "Peace, love and guinea pigs" was the theme of the event.
Pigs were penned by sex and allowed to frolic on the lawn. The boars demonstrated what it means to be fueled by testosterone. The more numerous sows were mostly agreeable, although there was an occasional hissy fit over the last bite of kale.
The pigs enjoyed competitive events. Ethel Rose won the Portliest Pig contest. Luke finished first in the Carrot-Eating contest.
Pigstock also featured information on guinea pig care, and there were pigs for adoption. Cheryl Sanders provided nail clipping and instruction on doing it safely. Sanders, of Chamblee, left her pigs at home so she could concentrate on nails.
Lisa Sharp organized Pigstock 2010. Merchandise sales benefited the Atlanta Metro Guinea Pig Rescue, http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/GA594.html.
And also! In my officialy before picture, I am wearing a pigstock shirt!!
You could probably see the logo better now. :}
Here, for your frolic watching are 2 of my boys, Kai and Navin (Navin R. Johnson) when I was introducing them to another part of the cage and them "popcorning" over "puffy stuff"

I never had rodents as pets until I was an adult and I LOVED THEM. I would tell you "and I will never be without them again!" in a perfect world, but my lungs and my great appreciation of breathing (I never realized HOW horrible they were for my lungs until the last of my herd died and the office was rodent free) would tell you differently.
And thanks! Every day I am so thankful that I *feel* great - even on days I do not feel *so* great physically, I know I feel so much better than I would, were I feeling puny AND heading down that crazy even more unhealthy road that I was on.
I taking it "popcorning" is a verb???
once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
size 8, life is great
Popcorning is that jumping/popping thing you see Navin and Kai doing. Where Navin popcorns so high and then flops on over. Its an overwhelming guinea pig "emotion" thing. Some folks think its an only joy thing, but I have seem some of my pigs popcorning in serious frustration when someone has blocked the hidey hut and they want IN!!
Rabbits do that too, only with rabbits its called "binkies"
I guess in humans it might be called a "tic"
Hahahaha!!
Even though my herd has been gone for 3 years, I would *swear* to you, sometimes I still hear them making that little percolating noise they make when they are just puttering and muttering around. It makes my heart glad. :}
I mean I could if I really wanted one, but it appears we just don't have time for everything and have to make choices.
damn mortality anyhow.
