Hi, sorry you are having this struggle. Not sure what to tell you from what you report it sounds like you are eating properly. Could be some fluid thing but I sure don't know, but I do know how frustrating it  is. The only thing I can suggest is to increase protein as thats what my surgeon told me. You may have a very slow metabolism (as I do confimed by test) and have to live with it. Do you take any meds or have any med changes that might do this? I know there are some that are just killer in causing weight gain. Hope you feel better with this soon.  Diane

Hi diane, thanks. Increasing protein is a good idea, I'll try it. I'm taking a lot more meds now than I did all last year, but there is nothing I can do about that. I was taking some antibiotics lately and am testing out a new med. Don't know if these cause water retention, but I guess I'll find out eventually.

You got  some great ideas to help you. .  Do you know if the side effect of your new med or any of your meds is weight gain?  Check with your doc and the internet to see.  Maybe there is an alternative?

The other thing is to take a few measurements, it is possible you are in a stall while your body adjusts the scale may be wonky but the inches maybe coming off..

I gained weight over about a 10 month period, I think it is great you are searching for solutions right away, much easier to lose 5 lbs  than the 20 I gained gaining 2 lbs a month.   I was eating for emotional reasons, lots of sugar.  Just eating 200-300 calories more than I was expending put the lbs on.  i'm down 15, and know I will get the other 5.  I went to the doc and got my metabolizm checked and it does indeed suck.

Good luck.

I'm in the process of switching from Neurontin (the med I've been taking fot the last 20 yrs) to Lyrica, supposedly because Neurontin causes weight gain. Imagine my surprise when I read that Lyrica too may have weight gain as a side effect! There ARE no other choices for MS but I guess I should be glad that even these exist.
I haven't taken any measurements, but the last pants I bought are too big, so I suppose something is happening. As a matter of fact I'm going shopping later on today for spring-summer clothes so I'll either come back happy or disappointed! LOL
The good news is that as of today I've lost 1 kg of the 2 I gained, so I guess I'm going the right way. The help in this forum has been tremendous and it got me back to thinking how I can beat this problem.
