I'm a Best Loser!

A month after I had my surgery, I joined TOPS (take off pounds sensibly).  They have a Weight Loss Surgery Division.  In my local group, I am the only one in my division.  We only have 20 members, though.  Anyway, statewide, I was the Best Loser in the WLS division and will receive recognition next week at the state convention.

Now, granted.  I had my surgery in February and joined TOPS a month later.  So the majority of the year, I was in the honeymoon stage of losing.  People who had their surgery later in the year wouldn't lose as much as I did in that year.  And people who didn't join as soon after surgery wouldn't lose as much.  So, I had the odds in my favor, but didn't even know they had such an annual event.

That said, I'll take it!  Doesn't matter one hoot to me that the reason I'm the best loser has a lot to do with the logistics.  From March through December, I lost 88 pounds.  Honestly, TOPS has really helped along the way.  The others are so very supportive and have enjoyed seeing me lose every week.  I have never had a gain, but stayed the same twice in the 14 months since I joined.  That's reason enough to celebrate.

At first, I wasn't going to attend the event.  But then, I decided that if I can help even one person at that convention make this life changing decision to have WLS, it will be worth it.  And I'M worth celebrating!

Those of us who will be on stage are required to dress formally, so I purchased a long skirt/dressy blouse for the event.  Now I'm just going to have to go on a cruise to have another reason to wear my new duds.

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Thanks Diane!  I ordered some new shoes and hope they come before Thursday.   I'm pretty sure they will come by Tuesday according to tracking.  Then I have to hope they fit and don't kill my feet. lol

Thanks Melissa!  I think we all should celebrate our accomplishments in any way we can.  We are worth it!
