Ya'll know that I had gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago. Ever since that surgery, I've been dehydrated. Every day I worked on fluids, but just could not get past the threshhold of dehydration, I didn't get better, or worse, I just stayed the same no matter how hard I tryed. Yesterday, I was sick of the dark urine, gritty eyes, headache, and feeling lousy in general. So, I called my bariatric clinic (who harvested my gallbladder as well) and explained how hard of a time I was having with hydration and my symptoms. They told me to come right in. So I did, and they started an I.V. and gave me a bag of vitamin enriched saline (it looked like pee, and I could taste the B vitamins). I felt really bad about having to go in, but I'm glad I did, Today, is the first day headache free. They told me I needed a leg up on the situation and were happy to do it, why suffer? As it turned out, they had trainee's there who got a lesson is I.V. therapy on a dehydrated patient. They were pleased that my sad dehydrated vein collapsed and I needed another stick....
They also ran labs and confirmed I was dehydrated, which was another lesson for the trainee's....glad I could help...Ha Ha
Anyway, if I ever get that way again, I will not wait 3 weeks for help. I'm sure I got dehyrated in those early days of recovering from gallbladder surgery. I had so much gas and tummy pain during that time, and slept a lot.
I really had to swallow my pride to go in for help, but it was worth it. I've been playing catch-up with a tiny tummy for 3 weeks with no luck. It's the first time in my life I've had to get hydrated through medical intervention.

Having my gall bladder out was a much harder recovery than I expected. I bounced right back after my vsg surgery to the point I was back to work in a few days. The GB surgery had me on the couch for a couple of weeks not wanting to move. I wasn't expecting that.
I hope you're feeling better! It was smart to go in .
