Sick of meat

I'm sick of chocolate protein shakes for breakfast, but I still have one... cause, well... I gots too.  I smoked a crapload of pulled pork on Sunday, so I'm sure I'll be sick of that soon.  But that's what freezers are for.

I enjoy doing big cooks & buying in bulk, so this is a learning process for me.  Right now I'm raising 25 chickens to butcher... and I don't even hardly eat chicken anymore.  Explain that.  Old habits die hard & slow.

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

Pulled pork sounds good. I'm scared to try pork again since the only two times I've had horrible pain in my sleeve was from pork. :(

I think I'm going to buy some steaks this weekend and eat those for a while. It is hard to eat 150g of protein a day with the sleeve. That's alotta meat. I'm going to have to go back to at least one shake if I don't want all that meat, but they don't stay with me for very long which is why I prefer food.

eta: It's really just chicken I'm sick of! I'd chop one's head off (is that how you "butcher" them?), that's how sick I am of chicken. :~)

Pork goes down super easy if it's the good, fatty, slow-cooked kind.  If it's a little stringy, I'll throw it in the food processor and chop it up a bit more.  Use a vinegary sauce instead of a heavy sugar one.  Throw in some red pepper flakes.  I stay away from pork loin... white & lean = sleeve pain.  But you know that.

I eat a crapload of beef tenderloin.  It's expensive, but WTH... it's good, and I can't eat too much of it.

Yes, pork loin is exactly what I was hurting on! And a pork chop the other time.

I'm embarrassed that I don't really even know what beef tenderloin is. I've never eaten much beef, except for pot roast that I make with stuff in the crock pot (chili, stroganoff, etc.).

Tenderloin is the whole muscle that filet mignon steaks come from. If you cook it medium rare, you can pretty much cut it with a fork. You can buy the whole tenderloin(cheaper) and cut your own steaks or just buy already cut filets @ the meat counter. Runs anywhere from $10-15/lb. Give ribeye steak a try too.... high in fat, very tender & flavorful.

Beef is high in iron & lots of other good stuff.

You must embrace the pig, pork goes down real good, especially pulled pork with BBQ sauce....To make is extra squishy, I put it in the crock pot.  After it cooks all day, I cool it down, then pull it apart and discard the shoulder bone.  Next, I add some BBQ sauce.  It's super soft, moist and tender.

At least give it another chance!

Girl... When I am pms'ing it is always BBQ time for me.. Pulled pork.. Steak.. Or even just a stuffed burger.. Anything that comes off th grill, lol.. Just eat some meat other than chicken silly! Maybe easier to get the protein in switching to seafood for awhile?

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

A stuffed burger sounds really good!

I love seafood (especially salmon) but my kids hate it so I don't make it too often because then I have to cook two dinners. Argh. Tonight I'm eating tilapia and they'll have chicken nuggets, so I do it sometimes but not too often. I think I'll do salmon next week though. The fats are good for us!
