No Longer Lurking 1 Year Out

I have been lurking on this forum for over a year and it is time to introduce myself. My 1 year surgery anniversary was on 4/29/11. I was self-pay and had VSG with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. My recovery was smooth and the experience with Dr. Aceves was stellar.

I am 5'5" and weighed 222 lbs on the day of surgery. On 4/29/11 I weighed 125 lbs. All I can say is wow!!! I feel so much better. My original goal was 130 and I have adjusted along the way. I hope to level out between 120 and 125. My frame is small and I wear a size 4 and a few 2's. I love my new size!

I eat protein first, try to drink 64oz of water daily and exercise 4-5 times a week. I walk for 1 hour 3-4 times a week and go to the gym 3-4 days a week. I start my day off with a protein shake for breakfast every morning. If I don't I will not get my 70 grams of protein daily. Plus, I have never been a big breakfast person. I bring my lunch and snacks everyday to work to avoid bad choices. My worst problem is night time grazing. I try to make good choices but, I really want to stop the habit. I am addicted to soy nuts (lol).

I am moving towards the maintenance phase. The forum has been invaluable in my success. It really helps me to keep me on track. Just wanted to say thanks and I would love to join you all. I will start posting on the daily weigh in, it keeps me accountable.

Welcome and it sounds like you are doing great!  Looking forward to getting to know you.  Any chance I could talk you into putting a picture of yourself or something you love in your avatar?  It just feels more personal somehow.  If you don't want to do it, no sweat, it just makes it easier to relate and connect.  Your plan so far sounds fabulous.  It is easy to see why you are so wildly successful.

Thank you for your warm welcome.  No problem, I will post something in my avatar tonight.  BTW- I am also a big fan of TJ's seaweed snacks :) I eat it with smoked salmon spread.

Welcome and congratulations! I had the VSG revision with Dr Aceves in March of 2009. He does really nice, tight sleeves, so maintenance should not be too much of a problem for you. I am 25 months out and can still only eat small amounts. Again, welcome!

Your surgery date is exactly one year after mine with Dr. Aceves! I am going back there in a couple of weeks to have Dr. Luque do a face lift. I am very excited to see Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos again.

Welcome to the maint. board!

Welcome to this group and to the rest of your life - i.e. maintaining your weight loss. we are all sort of on this magical mystery tour of finding our way to keeping weight off. Its a journey; not a static event. So glad you are here to learn and share. Sounds like you are off to the right start by still keeping the protein up and tracking. Good Job.   Diane

Sassy - Please keep me updated on your experience with Dr. Luque. Plastics are in my future.  I have been saving since after VSG.  I see at least at TT. Just waitng for the weight to get a bit more stable.

Jim and Diane - thank you for the welcome. Maintenance is pretty scary.  It is where I always failed.

I will definitely keep the entire board informed on my experience with Dr. Luque. He comes highly
recommended to me and I will get to meet another gal from the board. I think she is having a TT.
but not really sure. I am sure she will post on the PS board and I will too.
