How many veggies do you squeeze in for the day?

I've been modifying my diet and taking in fairly high amounts of fat and protein, and while I feel great, I'm having trouble squeezing in all the vegetables everyone keeps telling me I need.

Exactly how many servings of vegetables do we need? I know there's all sorts of cool nutrients in vegetables, but I've also read that people have had great success on controversial all-protein/fat diets, so I'm curious what other VSGers are doing.

And how the heck do we get all the veggies in without eating all damn day? I just can't eat both fat/meat + veggies at the same meal because I fill up so quickly.

I have been meaning to get in more veggies for - goodness, 2 years now!  manage maybe one serving a day and would like to increase it.

meanwhile, I have some Green Vibrance I bought a long time ago and I plan to go back to drinking it. as I recall, it doesn't taste to wonderful mixed with water but it's fine with juice.

there are all kinds of "Green" drinks available, you can google them. I would prefer to eat "real" food but it doesn't feel like enough. I think with veggies, the more the better.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I too don't get in many vegies.  I do make Elina's green chicken soup and that has vegies.  I also don't eat very many fruits.  It's just hard to fit it all in.

Hey there I try to get in at least 2 fruits/vegetable serving in...but I can only do what I can do.  I take my vitamins and have my levels checked annually which is all I can do.

I been doing Veggie Only snacks.... Even though I love veggies with meat......trying to get them in with protein always means less protein....

I mix 1/4 cup of some type of berry in my morning Greek yogurt. Veggies can be tough, at times. Sometimes, I will just eat veggie only snacks, otherwise, I can only get in a few bites. I can eat some snap peas or a few grape tomatoes. Cooked asparagus, maybe a couple of stalks. I can eat some other things, but I have never sat down and tried to eat a salad. It seems a bit overwhelming. I just eat a few bites.

Veges are a rare thing in my diet, id like to eat more but i dont have the room so alas alot of the time most of my meals are all protein.

if i eat yogurt i add 1/4 cup blue berries to my 1/2 cup yogurt and so far that has been the only way for me to even get fruit in, or have 1/4 apple as a snack

I even tried eating 1/2 whole wheat round with pb to get grains in, but then i started craving protein again i noticed after a few days i was back to eating nothing but protein..

I only eat 3-3.5 oz of protein at a time and if i cut back on that i wont make my protein numbers .. so i enjoy veges and meat for special occassions..

I guess that is one reason we must stay on top of our vitamins..

I saw a bariatric pyramid once and it said something like 2-3 servings of fruit & veggies.

I try to have veggies 2-3 times a day which generally works out to 2 servings (because of how little fits in each time) and fruit 1x (though I sometimes have more).

Not many but I never have because I don't like a ton of veggies.

Lately I've been better because I'm trying to fill up more on lower calorie foods.

Some things I do:

mix cottage cheese with ranch dressing powder and scoop it with celery (can use greek yogurt)
mix tuna fish with cottage cheese (or make tuna salad however you like it) and roll it up in green leaf lettuce (lettuce wraps, can use any filling)
eat salad with meat in it
mix blue cheese with cottage cheese and dip celery in it (can use greek yogurt)

Then I also have been eating broccoli or cauliflower with my dinner.

Can't eat very big servings of these veggies, but I try to include them at least twice a day.

I have a friend who moved back to town and actually lives upstairs in my condo.  She's a great italian cook and has been making dinner everynight.  I love coming home to dinner prepared.  We have protein and either a cooked veggie or a green salad.  I can get in quite a bit of salad along with 3-4 ounces of protein.  I can eat more white fish than meat or poultry.  I have to say that since she started cooking, the BooM Princess comes to visit much more often, if you know what I mean. I occasionally have a serving of berries or apple, but not too often since I'm not at goal yet.
