Does chicken ever get "easy?"

I hear ya on the "chicken"  thing....I don't do the dry breast very often!  (and I thought I was a "breast" man!)  Dark meat is much easier on my sleeve.....sounds like a common issue W/ many of  us.  I see no reason to eat it if it is not comfortable.....I just choose something else.  Now I'm a "thigh man" !

Chicken usually gets easier after the 3rd drink.  Get it plastered with alcohol & get ready for the wildest cluckin' of your life.

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

It's all in your head (had to say that, lol).

I have a LITTLE problem with chicken breast when it's to DRY but other then that it goes down just fine.  I do find that I can't eat as much breast as I can thighs.

I don't have problems with any meat.  I can eat 2.5 to 3 ounces with a few bites of sides and that's all folks...  But seriously, I don't have to "wet" things to get them down.  I think it's just an individual thing.  There is no doubt however that things like eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, feel better in the tum.  Meats tend to give me that overfull/uncomfortable feeling and I don't get that with the softer things.  They just feel better.

At almost 23 months out, I still can not eat an entire chicken breast. Like at Chili's that salad with a sliced chicken breast, I can eat maybe 3-4 slices of the chicken breast and it's pretty moist, but I get that super scratchy/heavy feeling you're describing as well. Pork chops are a total no go for me, ham is pretty "ok" but the sodium content keeps me away from it.

As for steak/beef, it's been my go to food for protein since being about 4-5 months out. I still have to use food lube with chicken breast too, my husband won't even entertain the idea of eating dark meat chicken, so I don't bother buying it.

I like to boil a few chicken breasts (I can eat half) and store them to last through the week. I think boiling them must dry them out a lot.

So today with my boiled and diced chicken breast I made: 4 oz diced chicken breast, 1/2 c. cottage cheese, 1 tbl spagetti sauce, and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Nuked and melty, like chicken lasagna sans noodles. It was good and lasted me two meals. It feels much better mixed with mushy stuff.

Well Well Well....I turned out to be a big fat liar!   Last night I had my white chicken (lime chili) grilled kabobs in the fridge, all set for my dinner.  I was in the middle of BBQing some beef kabobs with BBQ sauce for dear husband and kids, when I walked in the house, and saw dear husband was polishing off the last chicken kabob......sigh.....he was to hungry to wait for the beef.

I really needed to eat, I had hit that wall of energy depletion, so I ate the beef. I have not tried beef in so long that I cannot even remember the last time I ate some.....and you what?  It went down like a dream.  I think I should try fish again since beef went well.   It was really good too.  I had bought a package of beef meant for stir fry, long thin strips.  I skewered them on the kabob sticks like I was sewing them on in a pattern.  Then threw them on the grill on high heat for super quick cooking, near the end of cooking, I brushed BBQ sauce on them.  They were incredible.  I loved them, and they sat real nice in my tummy. Maybe the BBQ sauce was lube?  Maybe that's why they went down well?  Who knows, but it was a nice change of pace.  I live on chicken breast....I think it's time to try some other meats like pork as well.

Good for you, Trish!! I looooove beef and fish! Had tilapia again for dinner tonight.

This just made me remember something. I don't eat pork anymore unless it's pork ribs (fatty/flaky). The only time I've ever had horrific pain in my sleeve (twice) was with pork. I think I didn't chew it well or I overate it, but I don't like it enough to chance it again. Totally forgot about that until just now!

Tilapia sounds like a good trial fish.  It's pretty light, and I loved it before the sleeve.

We're going to both have to give pork another chance...isn't it "the other white meat?"

Yep....I love beef again....it was soooooooooo yummy!!!

I never had trouble with anything, including chicken, unless I ate too fast. Do you try to eat really slow? I was told by my doc to eat for 30 minutes. No more, no less! So you take your portion and make it last 30 minutes, then you're not eating too fast. I always feel bad if I eat "normally". Sometimes I have to remind my self to slow down. Actually, I don't have to remind myself, because my stomach reminds me when I suddenly feel awful!
