Does chicken ever get "easy?"

When I was a child things like breadcrumbs/rice/oatmeal as filler was because my mom had to STRETCH a meal to feed several of us.  I dont' use any filler in my meatloaves, just meat, onions, and whatnot and an egg or two to make it bind or whatever.

I haven't used filler in years...

Wow...I never even thought of leaving the filler out!  Great idea!  I think I'm going to try both ways....Thanks for a great idea.

yep, it makes a great meat loaf all ground up in the food processor. and i put a spoon of wheat bran in along with maybe 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal as the filler. you could use oat bran if you don't do wheat.  Tonight i made the same thing with ground beef. just gives a nice mooshy texture if you mix it in the cuisinart. easy too. sometimes a put a little spagetti sauce in it and on top instead of ketchup. Hubby adores the stuff. I make him a potato and some veggies for us both. idiot proof dinner for two days.    diane

I don't even grind mine!

I just combine 2 lbs ground turkey, 1/2 c. bbq sauce, tbs. worchestershire, 1 c. oats, two eggs...once mixed put in deep casserole dish, cover with bbq sauce and bake on 375 for an hour. Easy and yummy. It's my daughter's favorite meal. :~)

I love the idea of using oat bran...I could use some more fiber in my diet, and it looks like a breeze to whip up.  Thanks for another great idea!

I don't have any problem eating 2 oz. of it. It's when I eat more that I sometimes get the heavy feeling. I definitely go for the dark meat. Or I get KFC and take the skin off (I don't like it for some reason, too greasy I think).

I don't have a problem with chicken at all. I prefer dark meat but I have chicken breast all the time too. The key for me is small bites and chewing well if it's breast meat. I think I just got that habit and do it without thinking from being banded.

I know what you mean though about not feeling right . Chicken doesn't do that, but there are
foods that I have eaten that feel like they are sitting in my sleeve sideways,

Thanks, Mike!

Ok I'm glad I'm not abnormal that I can't eat much of it. Ah well. Still worth it a million times over!

I can eat anything and everything.  I don't even have to chew things well.  So I really have to work at eating the right food and slowly.  I was hoping after surgery the bad foods wouldn't go down.  lol
