I moved this from the Monday post.  I'll edit Monday, and put what I ate yesterday there.

Still recovering from gallbladder harvesting by my VSG surgeon.  Weird thing is that most people have trouble with meats and fat after the surgery, I'm having the opposite problem.  I can't seem to handle fruits or veggies.  They cause explosions in my stomach, then my guts...So, my food intake at the moment is a little odd.  I had the gallbladder out 10 days ago.

Can you share your homemade split pea soup recipe.  I think soups are going to be my go to and I prefer to make them...

Soup is a good "go to" food.  It turned out delicious.  The whole family liked it.

Split pea with Ham soup
1 bag (1 pound) of split peas
8 cups of chicken broth
1 pound of ham cubes
one cup each of chopped onions
carrots and celery
1 bay leaf
1 TBSP of lemon juice

rinse the peas, In a large pot, combine peas, chicken broth and ham cubes. bring to a boil, cover and reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 minutes.  stirring occasionally.

Add the onion, carrots, celery, bay leaf and lemon.  cook for another 30 minutes or until desired tenderness.  season with salt and pepper to taste.  Enjoy!

It's so simple, yet nutritious, with lots of healthy good protein.
