Sitting at the hospital

Been here (well I go home to sleep) with my DH since Tuesday afternoon.  Long story short of it - he has either an infected prostate or prostate cancer.  So for those of you who pray, please send up that whatever the final diagnosis, that the doctors will be able to treat successfully.

They will do an ultrasound here either today or tomorrow.  He will see  a urologist next Thursday in Des Moines.  I don't know what from there.  I'm assuming a biopsy to get a definite diagnosis, but that information is coming from Dr. Google, via the Mayo clinic website.

We've already decided that if it is cancer, he will seek treatment at Mayo clinics.  The "seed" implants seem to be very successful and we have a friend who went there with great results.

Anyway I've gain 2.5 pounds since Tuesday!  I have done some emotional eating, but  I have tracked everything and my caloric intake hasn't been that bad.  The highest was 1700.  I'm doing better today.  I think most of the gain is water weight since I'm not getting exercise and sitting around a lot!

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Praying for you and hubby.  May I ask how old he is?  Hang in there, prostate cancer can be very treatable and the older the better.

Wanda, I am so sorry you and your husband are going through this.  I will be sending all good vibes and thoughts and prayers your way.  Don't worry about the calories now, it will take care of itself later.  My step father went through this a few years ego and all is well now, I hope for the same result for your husband.

Thanks Elina!  I know it's a very curable cancer if it's caught early enough.  His PSA was 30, so that is extremely high.  But the doctor said it could be that high due to infection too.

They just told us that the ultrasound won't be done here. They will do it in Des Moines a week from today.
