trying to add produce

just like  when I was a pre-op, I don't eat nearly as much vegetables as I should. I was always buying greens and then letting them go bad.  now that I have less room, I have a similar problem with fruit: eating an apple, say, is a bigger deal that it used to be.

I think I'm going to start tracking this like I do my exercise and vitamins.

not with a specific goal in mind yet, just wanting to be aware and generally add more. I think "an apple a day" would not be a bad start.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I eat an orange a day...really helps keep everything moving in the right direction! ;)

And it is so yummy with greek yogurt!

Sometimes I just have to eat vegetables first or I would never eat any.

I want to eat more oranges, too, I should try that. I have a ruby red grapefruit I've been working on for a couple days now!

I get a bag of "greens for cooking" at Trader Joe's every week.  It's a combination of collards, spinach, and a couple of other kinds of greens.  I steam about 1/4 of the bag every. single. night. and eat it plain.  I love it and everybody knows how good greens are for you!  And the steamed greens don't seem to take up much room at all in my little tummy.  (Oh, and my steaming method is this:  Put the greens in a steamer insert in a saucepan over a little bit of water, turn the burner on "high," and cover.  When the water is at a full boil and the steam is pouring out from under the lid, the greens are done.)

how I wish there was a Trader Joe's or a Whole foods nearby!  I can get organic greens at Safeway but in plastic containers.

I love spinach but raw, only. but I want dressing on it & onions and raisins and other veggies...

I do a great job of eating some blueberries or strawberries every day. I'm not good about eating veggies at all. I only like a few and unfortunately the ones I do like interfere with some of my medications. It's a struggle for me.

I agree, I need to do the same.  I keep saying I will, but I never do.  I really prefer the taste of protein (if I can't get carbs that is).  I have to make a concerted effort to change this.  Thank you for the reminder.

I do veggie only snacks so I don't have to try and fit them in with meals.....

I'm going to doing more veggie snacks. those baby organic carrots taste great, plus all my dogs and my bird like them too.
