A good food combination

We all love hummus and I make my own so I can control how much olive oil and such goes into it. But it sometimes seems kind of weird to eat it with a spoon since most of us don't do a lot of crackers and such. A really good thing to pair with hummus is dill pickles. Tastes great. you can spread it on dill pickle chips or get those cute little cornichon dills or any kind. Just finished lunch of this.   Diane

I dip carrots or bellpeppers in it. It also never dawned on me that I could make it less fatty...I omitted the olive oil all together and just put in tahini and I honestly couldn't tell the difference.

My new favorite sandwich is one piece of toasted sprouted bread, hummus, avocado and tomato...it is almost heaven!

Yummy...hummus.

I like it on GG bran crispbread.  Still gives you the cracker sensation, but is only 12 calories and is basically all fiber.  Saw it on the Dr. OZ show and then found out it's part of the f-factor diet (kinda like south beach but more concentrated on lean protein and fiber).  So I decided to try it out.  They don't have much flavor on their own, but you still get the crunch like a cracker (it's kinda like a wasa bread consistency, but less calories and more fiber).  Now I eat everything on them from hummus to chicken salad to low fat cheese.

here's the link if you want to check it out.  You can also order on amazon.  Sometimes its cheaper (and you can get them in qty of 5)

sounds great, I can't wait to give it a try.

Thanks so much for the tips all

Also, I have a tendency to substitue romaine lettuce for bread and crackers when it comes to spreading things like peanut butter, or cream cheese fillings, or hummus.on the leaf, fold it over and eat it. I love these sandwiches,.

I like using cucumbers. Just the right crunch and 2 bites each slice!

My family loves Carb Krunchers Bagels and we use them for almost all of our bread needs.  For example, I will cut them up and toast them in the toaster oven for chips, or put them in the toaster and then chop them up for use as bread crumbs in meatloaf or dry them and cut them up and use for stuffing.  You get the picture.  They are really tasty and one bagel has only 135 cals. ( I can only eat 1/2), 7.5 g. of fiber, and 13 carbs.   They have to be shipped to you and I store them in the freezer, but I love them and my family eats them, so it works.

I just tried hummus last month and it is my new favorite thing!  I'm going to try it on pickles.  There are some other good ideas here too.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
