Spaghetti Squash Surprise

I bet you all clicked on this expecting a recipe or something! My surprise was at the checkout counter. I have been wanting to try it so today I saw some in Safeway and it said $3.99. Grabbed up some other groceries and headed to the cashier. She weighed my squash and the price came to $14.39! OMG! I started thinking about how much steak I could get for that price and asked her to please take it off my tally. That was far too much to pay for a vegetable of which most of it would go in the garbage. Granted I live in Hawaii and food is higher here but that was just too much! It must have been 3.99 a pound not 3.99 for one. I just couldn't believe it! I think I will make zuchinni noodles instead. They were 8 for $10.

I have noticed it too, the price of food in going way up.  Kind of sad, inflation is horrible for the country.

Spagetti Squash is good.  It's cheap here in the North East US.  But alas, prices are going up all over.  Still... can't feel to bad for you, you live in Hawaii!!!!!!

We definitely had surprises about how much just plain ol foodies from the grocery store cost in Hawaii!  but when you have to pay for so much of it to GET THERE from afar, its more understandable, but still.

For 14.39, that squash oughta be dusting my house!  :}

ROFLMAO!!!

The mental image of this spaghetti squash trundling around in an apron dusting really did make me laugh out loud. Thanks, I needed that!

I love spaghetti squash and eat it like I would pasta (in the past).  Little Laura's 96% lean beef and sauce over top of it and eat it up...yum!  Hardly any calories and very close to the real thing.  It's much cheaper here though.
