What dreams/interests are you pursuing?

So there can only be so many posts about mushies, trigger foods, loose skin and pre-op diets.  I want to know what you're focusing on or planning right now that wouldn't have been possible before.

Yesterday I purchased an angling kayak.  My father already has one, and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with him.  Last year when I tried his out, it sank.  It's hard for a 400+ lb. man to float on a piece of plastic.

Also planning on hiking down the Grand Canyon over Thanksgiving & camping for a couple of nights, provided I can get the required permits.  I visited the GC 18 months ago and never walked more than 100 yards from the hotel or shuttle.

I THOUGHT about doing both of these things before losing, but now that the weight is coming off, I'm DOING these things.  I find it amazing that my new interests are physical ones.

How are you taking advantage of your newfound self-confidence, mobility & energy?  What are you DOING?

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

Yaaay!  That is very cool!

I have always been active, walked a marathon at 200+, we hike, raft, kayak, zip line *booo!* all sorts of things, but now I sure hurt a lot less when we do it!  I like that!

I still do not like way up high stuff.  I was wired to die closer to the ground than that, not from flinging myself out of a perfectly good *insert vessel here* :}

I am excited for your GC trip!

So I guess I'd better look elsewhere for a skydiving partner?  That's the one thing noone wants to do with me!

I would have to be stoned out of my mind, my man.

But even then, I might be covered with vomit, urine, and feces but hey!

I'm a date!  :}

At one point when a bunch of us were going to meet in Las Vegas, skydiving was on the agenda.  It's still on MY bucket list.   Now, if we could all skydive in TONGA, that would be perfect.

I inherited a motorcycle shop, learning to ride my first bike, and am taking dancing lessons!

 I love this topic.

Last year my son, husband and mother in law went to Disneyland.. I paid for them to go because I wanted my son to experience Disneyland. He had the time of his life and they took many photos and videos of him there, but I was unable to see it in person because I was too fat to go.

I would not have had the mobility to walk around all day, and there was no way I was going to go in a wheelchair. I would not have fit on any of the rides. Plus I probably would have had to buy two seats on the airplane.

I can't tell you how much this broke my heart, to not be able to take my son to Disneyland. My heart and my world revolve around my son and I would have loved to take him. So my goal is to be able to take him to Disneyland this October for his birthday, with just him and I, a mother and son trip, so I can do something special for him and make up for not being able to take him last year.

I've also already gotten back into rollerblading and dancing, and want to go back to ballroom dancing. I used to be very into ballroom dancing and was on an amateur performance team and studied all the way to gold level ballroom. I was fat then too but just not as fat as my highest.

I'd also like to travel, particularly to Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Russia and Germany. I've always had several traveling phobias, particularly getting in a situation where I would have to walk long distances and not be able to manage it, etc. So when I get a bit smaller I'm going to try to start planning one trip per year and go to all of those places.

I'm definately hitting up a theme park or two this summer.  Haven't been to one in 15 years.

I know what you mean regarding travel.  I robbed myself of a lot of opportunities because of my size.  I'm actually looking forward to flying now.  I'm sure that feeling will pass about 5 minutes after boarding.

ohhh, love this topic.  I'm working on improving my swimming so I can compete in the Danceskin Triathlon in a year.  Going to my 35th HS reunion this summer...the first I've ever attended.  Always had an excuse in the past.  Want to do a whitewater rafting trip in the Grand Canyon.  That's going to be a gift to my hub that we can finally go.  Always excuses in the past but the real reason was I was simply too fat.  No more!  I dream of being an athlete...Ironman I think someone above said they are doing???  How awesome is that.  Would love to finally have the strength to do those things.  But most of all I want to be able to say I am a "cyclist".  The REAL kind...who can do all day rides if desired.  So much looking forward to in the future.  Loving my new life and the endless opportunities.  :)

And...I think developing all these things in ourselves, becoming the things we thought we could never be...is the real key to maintenance.

I just visited Universal Studios in Orlando and it was GREAT 100 lbs down!  Atot less aches and pains.  I love to go canoeing, and I want to try kayaking.  I'm too chicken to try skydiving, but plan on zip lining soon.
