Hey all, its been a long time since Ive checked in and I am in a bit of a bind.  I am now 2 years post op and had a baby almost 8 months ago.  The pregnancy was fine and the baby is perfect, however I am finding it very difficult to get back on track.  While I was pregnant I did my best to eat properly but I wont lie, the hormones and idea of a new life I was about to face got the best of me and I did indeed indulge in naughty foods, mainly sugary carbs   Now that the baby has come and my hormones are about back to normal I am still finding myself eating more often than I should and eating the wrong things.  I am also not sure if I am confusing hunger feelings with those of maybe too much acid as they are both a pretty similar feeling.

So with all that said, any words of wisdom and or inspiration would be greatly appreciated.  I understand the sleeve is a tool and not a magic wand.  I get all that.  I guess I just need a little push to get back on track?

Thanks!
E

My suggestion would be to get back to basics. Pull out those old eating plans your surgeon gave you for right after surgery. Protein first, measure your foods, etc.

If you think it's acid, are you able to take a PPI? If so, that will help you sort that part out.

Best of luck and congrats on the little one!

Well, if you run through the posts on this group you will see many many posts similar to yours where people have strayed a little and need advice for getting back to it. So run through all the threads in this group and you will find a great deal of advice.

My first suggestion is to start journaling your food and figure out what the stuff is you can leave out. Then go back to your eating plan that you were following earlier during your weight loss phase, possibly adjusted for some extra calories if your are nursing a baby or chasing a crawling one! Get the carbs and junk out of your house and do a protein shake for breakfast so you get in a full 70 g protein a day. If you feel like you have acid, get over the counter prilosec and use that or chew tums.

If you don't have a detailed weight loss phase diet plan, below is the link to the one my  surgeon gives out. worked very well for me. Just pretend like you are two or three months out from surgery and eat that way with perhaps some small additional calories due to the baby.

and again, look for all those other threads. they have far more info than I can add. gl. you can do this!  Diane

What I would recommend is making up a large batch of protein dense foods, and keeping those ready to go at a moment's notice.

Eat those foods at very regular intervals, every 2-3 hours, so that when the urge strikes to eat sugary foods, you immediately have something appropriate to eat and you can fill yourself up with that, leaving no room for the naughty stuff.

Hope that helps.. I had the same thing when I was pregnant with my son, and I gained 100 pounds.

I am going through the same thing, just posted last week.. 3 years out, no new baby, and no gain back, but such a struggle..   I went back to basics one week ago.  I started with the 5 day pouch test and i personally feel it really helped me.. It took the carb cravings away, and made me much more aware, and I cannot eat as much at each sitting now..  I have added back a few carbs, only whole grain, and very little..  It has been one week, i am down 8 lbs and more importantly have continued to lose even after adding the carbs back.  But as i said, very small amounts if any at my meals..  I start each day with the protein shake also..  I read from one of these wise people that if you upped your protein to 90 gms you will lose better, i am trying that   Best of luck to you
