Thanks to all of you.. Just finished my first week of back to the basics
I feel so much better after the 5 days.. more in control and free of the bad carb cravings.. and I lost 8 lbs to boot :) Of course it is the weight i keep losing/gaining back but hope to free that for good.. I am also logging every day everything i eat.. Thanks to all of you for your help.. I need to look at the weight posting threads.. I have never weighed everyday, I think i would have huge ups and downs because i am still losing..
Hey Cindy,
A trick for me about weighing is just to look at it like a science experiment.. hmmmm. Log it, put it up, keep making doob/better/best decisions.
If you have head issues, I have some favorite books that I have to run thru at least once a month to keep my head in the game. that chick in my head has had her way with me for a LOT of years, if I dont stay focused on what is real and true, she can distract me with shiny things and I can plunge off the deep end in a heartbeat!
Old habits are like runways, they might not get used for a while, but honey, when that pathway lights up? Look out anything in the way.
Great job!
Of course I have head issues :) really.. "I am trying to convince myself now "
Seriously, i would love any info on good books to help.. I love to read and have never read any book about this but Susan somebodys journey.. I can't remember her last name now but its from Bariatric Eating... I would like helpful tools though, and that includes this wonderful board and any books and info i can get.. thanks and have a great day.
You know it does tend to get a little depressing when peoples start weight are not much more or where i am now after losing 130 lbs :) Wish i had done the sleeve sooner..
Some book suggestions:
Taubes, Why We Get Fat
Kessler, End of Overeating
Gould, Shrink Yourself
Albers, 50 Ways to Sooth Yourself Without Food
Enig, Eat Fat, Lose Fat (not about eating cheeseburgers and fries as much as it is about eating natural foods with moderate fat, ie milk, butter, eggs, meat, coconut, 0 trans fat, etc).

This is a link to most of the book 10 Thin commandments. This book has helped me to structure my eating, so that I can see where I can "dance with the devil" as our lovely Sublimate puts it, or not. Or as he puts it, how I can "keep the foods I love in my life without having to wear them." Its systematic and for someone who was out of control before (meee!!!) its really been a godsend.
I would also suggest finding out your body composition, via a dunk tank or by bodpod. Knowing how much of you is actually LEAN and does not *need* to go anywhere helps to find what "goal" is a bit more realistically than BMI. For some of us who have been heavy for longer, our bones are denser than lightweights, et cetera. So, that is a helpful thing (I think!).
Do not entertain being depressed about where you started, my love! YOU STARTED!~! And all things in good time - maybe if you had started earlier you could not have handled it? Who knows? All we can do is look forward girlie!!
Also, Shrink Yourself is my favorite book for peeling my emotional onion, but 10 Thin is my most favorite. He has diet (that is not included in that link) but its too carby for the likes of me.
Yaaay! I am glad you are here! This is a good place to be and get loved up on while you make your way back to the path!
