Where in the Bay Area would you recommend getting a bod pod done? I'm trying not to focus on numbers, but would like to know how much body fat I have, so I can stop some of the obsessing about losing a few more pounds.

sodium of pizza, corned meats, cheese, will do it to me..  im in the same boat you are, but im not stressing it because my clothes still fit, and I think that every time we eat "carbs" we are going to bounce up and down.

I decided for me im not going to live on pure protein just to get back down 3 pounds because as soon as i put one thing off plan in my mouth i bounce up again.. i didnt have surgery to live miserably ... Im hoping once summer comes and can get away from the snow completly ( supposed to be having another storm come through tonight with another 6 inches)
then ill be more active and see it on the scale.

It may not help much, but your not alone..

This is a good point. In triathlon, we have an "off-season" where it's just too cold to race and it's hard to get workouts in. All the experts tell us to expect to go up 3-8 pounds during this time and then have it fall off once we start training hard for races again.

I think our bodies are hard-wired to hibernate, myself. I always have issues in the winter. I get fluffy, I have trouble sleeping and getting up in the morning when it's dark, which gets me to work later, which makes it harder to take off after work for workouts. And my brain is telling me to stay in -- to watch tv, to read a book, to just *sit*.  But then the sun starts to come out earlier, I have no problem getting to work by 9 am (or earlier), I can even get myself to do morning workouts, and suddenly my brain is saying "get up, get out, get moving, you lazy sob!"

This is my second season experiencing this. The first year, I freaked out as the scale went up a bit. It was only 3 pounds, but my clothes were tight and I felt puffy. My body fat was up 2% points too. I was sure it was the beginning of the end. Okay, here comes all my weight back on! But spring came and it all fell off and my body fat went down.

This year I was *determined* to ride it out, to not freak out. As a result (or maybe just because), I do think I was a bit too loose with my eating during the Holiday season and I went up more than 3 pounds. Then I started doing the heavy strength training and gained even more.

But I decided not to freak. (OKay, I still freaked at times.) And, here I am, two weeks into more active training and my body fat percentage is dropping, my collarbones are more prominent, my clothes are fitting better and I think my panus is as small as it's ever been. Oh and I'm no****ching tv any more (too busy and can't sit still that long.)

I've decide this is just my reality. I'm a bear and I need to hibernate in the winter.

I wish you could just relax and be happy!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
