Yo-Yo again?

I was so excited because since Christmas I have not been able to get below 137. It's always 137.2     137.4   Yesterday, I got up and weighed and it was 136. I was so stinkin happy over that one lb.!!

Today , I get up, it's 137.2 again. I am hoping it's from sodium. My 3 year old grandson wanted pizza so I went with my daughter to pizza but I only ate the top which was mostly vegetables off 2 pieces.  I just don't get it.

I've been on track all day today but I just can't stand that feeling like I am yo you dieting again! I am anxious to get on the scale in the morning.

Have you considered this may be your bounce back and it's not worth fighting it?

I think the fact that there was that downward movement is the important thing. Nobody weighs the exact same day after day. Bouncing up and down a pound or two is normal - its not yoyo dieting. Yoyo dieting is up and down the same 15 or more pounds. So to get that drop you are doing something right. just keep doing it. If you put your weight on a graph it would be jagged looking but show a gradual downward trend. thats the important thing. and sticking closely to program for one day won't necessarily show up on the next day's scale. our bodies are not on this schedule and it may take days or weeks of being on program for a real non-water weight drop to show up. thats just how it is. so try to think longer term.   and yeah, i hear ya about hating feeling like you are on a diet. no fun as it reminds us of those old days. but you are really not on a yoyo diet with your sleeve. try to remain on your program and those extra couple of pounds you don't  like will come off. but also recognize you might be mean't to be a few pounds more than your choice weight and if you can maintain at that level, its worth it to accept it.

this is all such a highwire balancing act. Its good that we have each other as safety nets.

Really 1 lb. on the scale tells you absolutely nothing. It's normal for me to fluctuate (water weight) within a 4-5 lb range on any given day.

In order to gain one pound, you would have to eat (roughly) 3,500 calories above maintenance, which you clearly didn't do. Don't worry about it!

I was thinking the same thing as Macmadame...maybe this is where you're supposed to be!  But I know how maddening it can be.  What was your low weight...how tall are you and what is your exercise plan like?

Honestly, I totally understand how much you want to lose those extra few pounds.  I agree with Macmadame though, I think this might just be your bounce back and your body is comfortable here.  I fluctuate within a three pound range all the time.  It drives me crazy too.

Also, just because that's your weight on the scale, that doesn't mean you can't get smaller. My body fat is the same while my weight has gone up about 8 lb. over the point it was when I declared "goal". That's because it's mostly muscle.

What I tell the people in real life who ask me for weight loss advice is: rather than fight your scale over 5-10 lb., change those pounds into muscle. The end result is that you'll be smaller for the same weight and that's really what counts.

It just makes me sad to see people beat themselves up for months over such a small amount of weight just because they used to be a smaller number on the scale. The scale is so meaningless when it comes to small amounts of weight. As I've said before, I've been 120 and had my pants be lose and 118 and my pants be tight. The scale is great when you are trying to lose 25 pounds or more but once you get near the normal range and only want to lose a few pounds, the scale isn't necessarily going to tell you want you need to know about what needs to change.

don't forget that our bodiesdo not work like our minds where oneday of good eating habits should show up the next day and vice versa. think in terms of trends over weeks and don't weigh every day. daily weighing shows a jagged line but what you want is a very gradual downward trend over weeks. Its just not worth the aggrivation as that irritation can lead to stress and bad eating.

You may be at the weight your body wants to be, but chances are you can get a few pounds off and maintain if thats what you want. just take it slow and don't get too stressed. and do the protein first thing. my surgeon said to kickstart my weight loss when it was slow by upping to 80 g. it worked even though i only did it for a month. don't feel like you are yoyo dieting because its just not if its only a few pounds and you are back to following reasonable guides. I would definitely recommend getting your bod pod results.. the most important thing is what your body fat percentage is.. the scale is meaningless in this area.

I bet you will be pleasantly surprised with your body fat percentage results.. I bet you are doing great. Then you can relax a little bit, call goal and allow a small amount of bounce around on the scale, within a reasonable range of course.
