I think this is just another part of the process,  testing the waters and finding our feet... unless you test what you can and cant do you will always be left wondering what if?

nobody expects us to be perfect and we shouldnt be so hard on our selves, you already taken steps to get back on track so that is showing that you are doing the right things.

I definately dont see it as you being a fraud, i see this as a learning for you.

You are not a fraud. You are just human, and we all **** up sometimes. We let ourselves become complacent and we loose sight of where we really want to be. I know you, of all people, will get right back on track.. you got this one sir...

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Can someone please point out to me exactly what Jimbo is talking about?!?!

My goodness...okay, you're human like the rest of us.  Illusions shattered.  Nah...

Perfection doesn't exist, dearest.  Not you, not Elina, not Frisco.  We have temptations, and sometimes I think we will succumb to them.

What is far more impressive is your ability to identify the issue, be honest about it, hold yourself accountable, and come up with a battle plan.  You may not be super human in avoiding all these temptations, but it's pretty-gosh-darned encouraging that you have been open, honest, and are adjusting course.

So count me as impressed as ever

Personally I don't have the cravings for the carbs anymore, but I've been going overboard with the fats lately for sure. I was actually drinking nacho cheese yesterday.. at this rate I'm going to need the DS for sure.

Hey Jim,  Now that you've gotten repo man on you and a swift kick in your a$$, I'll send you a couple of hugs as you detox from pizza.  I can so relate about being a little tired of the journey at this point.  I'm 13 months and feeling like WTF, still counting everything and still praying for goal?  But yup, that's just the case, so what?  I figure it's going to be counting and exercising, then counting a little more before the next walk, most likely forever for me.  Hoping not, but maybe/probably, given my metabolism.

So how do I deal with it?  I've been setting smaller goals at this point and staying focused on them.  I know if I get off plan, I'll never hit them.  Right now my focus is on going to NYC for my son's film school screenings the first week of May.  I haven't seen his gang at NYU since 11/2009 when I was at 249.  This time I want to be as close to 149 as I can get.  I've got my blinders and my sneakers on.  Walk right on past the food and onto the path around the lake, over and over.

What can you challenge yourself to?  Where would you like to be for the picnic on April 30th?  We've got a month so what's the plan?

Jimbo, I have been so impressed with your persistence and dedication to the losing phase. As many others have said, we are all human, and bound to get off course from time to time. What is important, is the getting back up again and continuing to fight for your health, life, and well being. Those are the things that are worth fighting for. You have come further than just about anyone on this board. You need to feel proud of yourself. You are worth it.

You mentioned something earlier, about "deserving" the treats. This is why all of us became morbidly obese, was rewarding ourselves with food. We need to find non-food ways to reward ourselves, so that we don't slip back into old patterns and behavior. Only you know what activities and people give you the most pleasure and satisfaction. It would be helpful to focus on those ways to reward yourself. I feel like I am also talking to myself!!!!

Everyday, all of us have to make choices, some are good, some are bad, but we all have to make them, and at times they can be the wrong or inappropriate ones. The important thing is getting back on track and be thankful that you caught it at 4 lbs and not 50 lbs.

I also appreciate and admire your honesty about posting your recent behavior. That takes guts and character to be so honest.

You can do this!!!! You have done so much already!!!! This journey is a daily battle and we must always be alert for things that will throw us off track.

Be glad  you caught it at 4 lbs rather than 8 like me. I had the same exact behavior you descibed over christmas and here it is april and I can't get it off!

I am trying really hard and it's up and down just like the old days of yo yo dieting. It's just not coming off!

Morning Jimbo.  Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.  I view the "permission" foods you mentioned like heroin or crack.  One taste and you're hooked (again).  Think of the addict on the skids, we're just like them, only our drug is pizza, chocolate Easter eggs, Doritos, etc.  We just can't go down that road!  Get back on the wagon!!!!!!
