Yes, you do know what to do.  We all do.  But sometimes our cravings get in the way of our reality and we have to give ourselves a good talking to.  I'm struggling right now with the evil ***** too.  I haven't gained, but I feel like I could lose control.  It's hard!!

I can't let myself avoid the scales, because I would do exactly what you have done.  If I don't get on the scale, I don't have to be accountable to it.

Do  you have a Weigh****chers or TOPS group in your area?  I go to TOPS every Tuesday and weigh in.  I stay for the meetings.  It helps keep me honest.  I truly think that if I wasn't going to TOPS, I would have let myself lose control too.

You can do this.  We are all here to help kick your butt back into reality.  *Raising my foot -turn around, here it comes*
Not even a "craving" ......thing ...more of a " I deserve this " ......thing .....I think ya know?
First, all learning about yourself is good  and necessary to succeed in the long run (weight loss and maintainence) .... learning that surgery doesn't necessarily "fix" our metabolism and learning it with a 4lb weight gain is a small price

I kinda think that the "I deserves" come from a similiar brain spot as the "cravings" .  Like the underlying carb thing fuels the "I deserves", be especially careful with the easter candy type stuff on an empty stomach (think about Gullo's stuff about how to set yourself up for cravings in Thin Commandments)

Ha! That's what I was thinking.

So, Jimbo, is that enough motivation for you? You don't want to give up that awesome bling, do you?

For me, when I stop with the food journaling and daily weighing, that's a sign that I want to be bad. I tell myself all sorts of good reasons why I shouldn't have to food journal or weigh daily -- it's obsessive, I am ready to eat intuitively, blah, blah, blah. But it's all bs. I really just want to be bad without accountability and, if I give into it, I gain.

Maybe getting lax about daily weighing is your canary in the coal mine, too.

First Jimbo, don't beat yourself up. It does no good and ruins a perfectly good stick. You of all people are entitled to a booboo. And thats what this is, not fraud or some crime or something. Don't let this little lapse spoil the magnitude of your accomplishement. And the stuff you described eating - well it was not so good but I really doubt you have gained four pounds of fat in this couple of weeks. If you had some chips then you had salt and some is water. I am totally certain that if you get back on your plan those 4 will drop off pretty quickly.

But you know what else, you of all people have helped others probably more than anybody on this forum both by your example and your postings. So now its our turn to help you. So we will keep after you and not let you get too far down the road with bad habits. We all need a little dose of the carrot and the stick sometimes.

You have been in weight loss phase longer than any of us. No wonder the day came when you got sick of it. This may be an important maintenance lesson for all of us. Sometimes its time to look around and find some different things that can be part of a healthy weight loss or maintenance program. We all tend to have 5 or 6 things that we eat over and over and I bet you do too and it might be time to look for some new ones. Check the eggface site for some new ideas or call Amy for some ideas.  And everybody out there, give Jimbo a recipe or two that is doable and suitable so he has some new choices.

Of course, you could use the nuclear option which  is to make an appointment with Dr. C and request a "spanking". But I bet even he would not be too hard on you. As the saying goes **** happens. You just gotta move forward and I have every confidence that you will.

Here is a good thing to eat:  cook a frozen costco chicken breast in a bit of olive oil covered over low heat. Get a carton of that organic  roasted red pepper soup and pour a cup or so of that on the chicken and let it simmer in it. The soup is fairly low cal. I usually can only eat half a chicken breast and so this is two meals for me. You can put just a little quinoa in the soup in the pan and let it cook in there too and its a high protein grain and gives my husband something else to eat. I eat a bit of it too.   And this soup is pretty good with soy protein powder added to it and blended to up the protein. get the plain soy protein powder at hippie health food coop. Tastes better in soup than whey protein.

And tell that evil Easter bunny to get his fat a$$ out of town.    Diane
