Food Poisoning Update
Hey everyone, thanks for all your well wishes! I am happy to report that I am feeling much better today. I'm still taking it easy and am finally getting rehydrated. The interesting thing is that I lost 5lbs over night...unbelievable!! I'm not worried though because I know it's all fluid loss. But that makes me wonder what would happen if any of us gets really sick at some point. This was only a 1 day ordeal, but what if one really gets sick. Until you experience it, you have no idea just how much your restriction kicks in when you are sick...it's frightening really.

so pleased to hear that you are feeling better today, i think if we get really sick we may have to have a few trips to the er to hydrate..
I guess its something we really do need to keep a close eye on when we are not well..

Yes, that is what I'm worried about too. I know you dropped down with your plastics and so did I. I want to have round 2 done this year and I'm worried about how low I will go.
And what about Haley (jagator88) on the main vsg forum...she's been battling breast cancer and her weight is really low. And then there's that other lady Kay who got colon cancer. I worry about major illness...not just a flu bug.

I agree with you, major illness might be a huge concern with being this small. My regular doctor does not want me to lose anymore for that very reason. I got a little scared when I reached 101 lbs. after plastics. I really needed to up my calories including protein, fat and carbs to stop losing. I was eating close to 3000 cals. a day and still losing. It got a little surreal. The book Thinner, by King kept flashing through my mind. I started to really get a bit nervous.

I'm so glad your feeling better. How scary!
I thought about major illness and it's affects even before surgery. I wondered how well we would do with our tiny sleeves. Then of course, Haley's fight with Breast cancer and her weight loss was frightening. She sure has been through a lot. I didn't see the posts about colon cancer, but I'll search it and see.
Another concern I had is getting elderly. Alzheimer's runs in my family. Hopefully, if I get it, my daughter's will be able to let medical staff know that I have had VSG and I have a wheat allergy. Otherwise, think about how sick they could make me.
Can they feed us through I.V in a vein, or is that just sugar? Conventional tube feeding would be difficult. Is there room for the tube, plus the liquid food in our sleeve? At least they can keep us hydrated with saline through a vein.
Yes, I worry about major illness too, I see I'm not the only one.
Diane-I'm so glad I don't have to do a bowel prep (colon blow) before my gallbladder surgery on the 8th......so glad!!!!
I know a lot of people have there gallbladders out and have no trouble. I'm crossing my fingers that I am not of the 10-20 percent who have a lifetime of diarrhea after surgery. That would be bad!

Yes you can get some kind of feeding...it's called TPN, but I don't know how it's administered. Haley had to have this too when she first got sleeved because she had a leak or some sort of serious complication with her WLS. Poor thing has had one thing or another.
So sorry your GB is giving you fits. Hopefully you won't have any additional issues once it's out.
It seems we will always have to be very careful of our health now that we have altered our bodies. But if we had remained obese there would have been problems as well...just different ones : )
I believe the other lady with cancer is Kayebadoe or something like that.
