How do you count it?

OK - I know there are lots of you out there that count everything that goes into your mouth...calories, protein, carbs, etc.  So, I am looking for your expertise.

I usually just mentally have an idea of where I am with calories and protein...don't really track it though.  Just keep the protein in mind and try to eat balanced and that has really seemed to work for me.  Just out of curiosity, I wanted to see what my overall food % are.  So, I am wondering how you count the carbs?  Do you just use the raw carb number or do you do net carbs?

So for example, if something has 7 carbs in it, but 5 of those are fiber, do you count as 7 or 2?

I count carbs as carbs, so I would count your example as 7. My surgeon's plan doesn't differentiate so I don't either.

I don't count the fiber, since it''s not digested, so I wouild count that as 2.

I just count the carbs.  Too lazy to do the math.  The website I use to track my food (SparkPeople) doesn't do the math either.

Just for S & G I should do it for a few days just to see what I come up with.

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Thanks for the clarification guys.  That really makes a difference as most of the carbs I eat are very high in fiber.
