That restriction thing...
:p
It's always amazing to me, still at one year out, how I can feel like I eat like a "normal" person without tons of restriction...until I eat out at a restaurant.
At home I am so used to serving myself very small portions and knowing my limit that I don't think much about restriction anymore. But when I eat out, it's shocking to me how I can only eat, typically, 1/4 of the meal they serve me.
I went to Waffle House today and got the All Star Special to split with my son: two over-easy eggs, grits, 2 slices of toast, 3 slices of bacon, and a waffle. I used to be able to eat it all. Today I was able to eat: 1/2 an egg, 1 slice of bacon, 1/2 slice of toast (if that), 1/4 waffle, 2 bites grits and I was hurting stuffed.
Ohhh and speaking of this. I attended a wedding this weekend where I had to spend a couple of days with people who do not know about my surgery and I was able to "pull it off" even eating very small portions (like only 3 steamed dumplings as my meal at PF Changs). I made excuses about wanting to save room for dessert (truth mmm wedding cake) or so I could drink alcohol. They know I lift weights, so they figured it was just me being concerned about my fitness. Whew. I didn't lie, I just didn't volunteer information. I used to tell anyone and everyone, but the further out I get, the less obligated I feel to discuss my surgery. It just seems like old news or something, I don't know. Well that it seemed like none of their business. I was so worried about it before I went. All that fretting for nothing.
Anyway, just some thoughts for the day. = )

I think it's all the variety they serve you on a restaurant plate. Too many things to taste and I get full really fast. At home I typically only eat like 2 things at one time...like meat and veggie. However, at a restaurant they bring bread, salad, then meat and veggie and sometimes a starch too. It's just too much stuff. My eyes roll back in my head when I see all that **** coming at me.
